What you need to know before you bake a low carb pizza

Is this your first low-carb pizza? Then read through this quickly before you start baking.

Low-carbohydrate pizza bases must always pre-baked be applied. So before the topping is applied, the Dough first of all alone in the Oven. Pre-baking is very important, because the dough has its Consistency gets. A low carb Pizza dough is always soft than a dough made from flour. It also seems kind of mushy - but that changes when you bake it.☝🏼

So it takes one more step than a traditional pizza. But it is absolutely worth it.

As the dough contains no yeast and no Baking powder*, it naturally does not rise in the same way as classic wheat pizza dough. The eggs and cheese provide a slight boost here.🧀

I like my pizza very much mild. If you need more flavor, use blue cheese for the topping, an intense pizza cheese or season the tomato sauce well.

If you're on a low-carb diet, you're sure to have many of the ingredients for this recipe at home. And if you don't, you can stock up on some ingredients on Amazon. Admittedly, some of them are not straight favorable. But if you order them in larger quantities, you can save a lot of money in the long term.

You'll find these two foods especially cheap on Amazon

What ingredients do I need for a pizza dough with almond flour?

Let's take a quick look at the Ingredients before we get to the recipe. I'd like to tell you which ingredients you can substitute if you don't have them to hand or if you don't like a particular ingredient.

You need these ingredients for the dough:

Almond flour

It is the star of the Low carb cuisine and also in my pizza recipe. If you want to eat less wheat and live healthier, then I recommend you order a batch of almond flour today.

You can use it to make pancakes, pizzas, bread and much more. Yes, almond flour is not favorable - Should you come up with the idea of replacing almond flour with grated almonds*, then I strongly advise you not to do so.🙅🏼

Almond flour is deoiled, which means that some of the fat in the almonds is removed. Only then does it become flour and can be used for baking. If you were to replace it, the low carb almond pizza would simply be disintegrate. This leads us straight to the next point.

Psyllium husks

I regularly bake without flour. The disadvantage: Wheat flour contains a lot of gluten, which ensures that the dough glued together. This is not the case with low carb flours. That's why we need an ingredient that takes over this part.

Locust bean gum or guar gum are often used. I prefer to use Psyllium husks*, because they are on easiest at use are. They soak up the water and form something like a paste that holds all the ingredients together.

Psyllium husks* are often used for Slimming used. They are also used in these recipes:

Eggs

As soon as eggs are warmed, they Protein and Egg yolk. The dough will seem a little runny at first, but it will firm up during baking. The Link between almond flour and eggs are the Psyllium husks*.🥚🍳

Compared to white flour, almond flour requires significantly more fluidity. So don't be surprised if two eggs seem like a lot.

Cheese

When the cheese melts, it is a Another link between the ingredients. It gives the pizza base its typical consistency. You need mozzarella that floats in liquid. It brings Additional moisture into the recipe.

If you don't have any mozzarella to hand or it simply tastes too boring for you, then it also works wonderfully with Gouda. I haven't tried other types of cheese yet. With the Gouda cheese, I have a Sip of milk so that the consistency is similar to mozzarella.🧀

If you want to test it, you need to choose a type of cheese that melts quickly.

If you don't want to use cheese, you can also try a vegan alternative. I still have it myself not tried so unfortunately I can't tell you whether it works just as well.

Spices

The dough doesn't have much flavor yet. So we still need to add salt. And my personal favorite: Work the pizza seasoning directly into the dough. This allows it to develop its aroma during baking.💁🏼‍♀️😋

Pizza seasoning you can easily produce yourself. You will need oregano, rosemary, thyme, garlic powder and a few other ingredients. If you're interested, take a look here: "DIY pizza seasoning recipe
