If you want, you can cut the watermelon pizza into pieces or just leave it in one piece and slice it at the table. In favor of cutting it ahead of time is that it is easier to top and that it is simply easier to cut the pizza on a board than later on the beautiful pizza plate.

If you cut pieces of pizza, you can put a different topping on each piece. The yogurt is nicer to divide into individual pieces, but easier on the whole pizza. Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt

Preparation:

Cut a 3 to 4 centimeter thick slice from the watermelon. It is best to choose an oval melon for this, it is easier to cut. Halve the melon, place it with the cut side down and now cut off a slice horizontally - this way the risk of slipping and the melon landing on the ground is the lowest.

Set the remaining melon aside. Dab the top of the melon slice with kitchen paper to help the yogurt stick to the surface.

If you like, you can now cut the melon into pizza pieces. I have left them whole.

Stir the yogurt in the cup with the spoon until it is nice and smooth. Apply the yogurt with a tablespoon.

Wash the fruit and cut it into small pieces. Cut blackberries and raspberries in half so that they can be better placed on the melon. Cut the nectarine into thin strips or small cubes.

Pluck the leaves from the mint.

Top the watermelon pizza with the fruit and finally place the mint on the melon.

What do I do with the rest of the melon?

Of course, you can always store the melon in the refrigerator for a few days. 5 days is no problem at all if you cover it with a foil. Otherwise, due to its high water content, it quickly takes on the typical refrigerator odors.

Melon tastes very good in salads or you can also prepare smoothies from it. If you have some time, you can prepare a delicious sorbet from it - for adults also mixed with a little sparkling wine. Pureed watermelon can also be preserved in ice cube molds and stirred into fruity punch.
