Counting calories? That's not so mine, much too exhausting. But why should you, when you can eat low-calorie snacks and snacks in between instead?

Everyone knows the term calories and can certainly list a few low-calorie snacks, but when it comes to the proper definition, most struggle.

Calories actually just describe how the body uses the "energy" from a food to keep us, in short, alive.

Officially, food energy is measured in kilojoules (kJ), but most often the other unit kilocalories (kcal) is used. This is also the reason why on the food mostly both are indicated.

Here are my 30 favorite low-calorie dishes:

Sweet, low-calorie snacks

#1 Frozen bananas with chocolate

Bananas are a hit, chocolate too, so why not combine one with the other? Especially in summer, the frozen fruits are the perfect snack for in between.

Just take half a banana (if you want to stay under 100 kilocalories), cut it apart and then dip half of the banana in liquid chocolate. Then put it in the freezer.

#2 Frozen grapes

A handful of grapes, placed in the freezer for 2-3 hours, will add variety to your menu without any extra work.

#3 Greek yogurt with honey

Do you already know the benefits of Greek yogurt? The hype around the dairy product is not in vain, because in addition to the great, creamy consistency, it is lower in carbohydrates and higher in protein than other types of yogurt. Simply refine your yogurt with honey or muesli.

#4 Grilled pineapple

Fancy something sweet? Grilled pineapple are not only delicious but also really healthy! Simply fry the fruit for 2-3 minutes until it shines golden brown.
Insider tip: Sprinkle the pineapple with a little dried chili and salt beforehand if you don't mind spiciness.

#5 Chocolate strawberries

My absolute favorite in this list. As long as you do not eat all the strawberries alone, but good share and nibbles only 7-8 pieces of it keep the calories also within limits. :)

#6 Muesli with yogurt

For the small hunger, muesli is perfect IF you make sure that there is not too much sugar in it. The best would be of course a homemade.

#7 Apple chips

You can make them yourself, but you don't have to. Apple chips can be bought ready-made in almost every supermarket.

But if you have an apple tree at home and don't know where to put all the fruit: Cut the apples into thin slices and put them in the oven at 70°C for three hours.

#8 Strawberry salad

Basil, Aceto Balsamico (balsamic vinegar) and strawberries do not go together? Not true! Try it out you will not regret it.

#9 Fruit buttermilk

The protein-rich milk product even supplies the body with valuable minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc along the way.

#10 granola bar

A practical snack for work, or to take along but be careful! Either you look very carefully at the ingredient list or you make the granola bars yourself to not fall into the sugar trap.

#11 Homemade pear puree with yogurt

You don't have to buy pear puree. You can easily preserve pears yourself. This saves calories, artificial flavor enhancers and preservatives. We have a great recipe for Pear puree without sugar tried out.

#12 Cucumber salad

Cucumbers are among the top low-calorie snacks, because their water content is about 95%! The salad is best finished with a dressing of sour cream or yogurt.

#13 Scrambled eggs

A medium chicken egg has about 80 calories, but the protein in the egg will keep you full for a long time.
My tip: Make yourself a Egg dish with mushrooms. This tastes great and prevents food cravings in the morning.

#14 Sweet potato from the oven

Sweet potatoes are extremely popular right now. Why is that, actually? Besides the relatively low calorie content, the tubers are low in fat, rich in vitamins and taste really good.

Simply cut the potato into thick wedges of about the same size and drizzle them with olive oil. After you have salted the sweet potatoes and sprinkled herbs on them, you can put them into the preheated oven. At about 200°C, the sweet potatoes should be ready in 45 minutes.

#15 Avocado with egg

Healthy, unsaturated fatty acid meets long-satiating protein. Sounds like a dream team :D

Cut the avocado apart, remove the pit and place a small egg in the center. Take care that the whole thing does not fall over and put it in the oven. After 10 minutes at 180°C the whole thing is ready. You can find detailed instructions here: "Avocado from the oven"

#16 Grilled polenta with tomatoes

The pre-cooked supermarket variety makes polenta quick to prepare and perfect for a snack.

#17 Tuna salad

My personal favorite salad for the summer. You can spice up the salad with herbs, tomatoes or even strawberries.

#18 Tomato soup

Eaten hot or cold, tomato soup is always the right choice. Besides the low calories, the ingredients of a tomato can brighten your mood and have an anti-inflammatory effect.

#19 cucumber sushi

The healthy cucumbers taste even better when they are processed into "sushi".
Simply carefully scoop out the cucumber and fill with salmon, avocado and onions according to taste.

#20 Pumpkin seeds

Perfect for work, in between or nibble in front of the TV. Pumpkin seeds have it in themselves and taste good :)

#21 Hummus

The Chickpea puree is already available in some supermarkets but of course you can make it yourself without any problems.

#22 Chickpea salad

Chickpeas don't necessarily have to be made into mush, they also make a great salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and a little feta.

#23 Rosemary potatoes in the tube

Thinly sliced potatoes from the oven with rosemary taste better to me than chips :) And you can save calories in the process.

#24 Caprese

Why not bring Italy into your kitchen! You can't go wrong with tomatoes and mozzarella + basil and vinegar.

#25 Tortilla Chips

While you should rather keep your hands off the store-bought version, you can also make the delicious chips yourself. The healthier version takes more time, but tastes at least as good!

#26 Peanut butter

The energy supplier with the many healthy fats is often underestimated. In moderation, the cream is even healthy. So do not be afraid of Peanut butter for breakfast or as a snack.

#27 Cottage Cheese (Cottage Cheese)

Lots of protein, little fat is the motto here. Cottage cheese keeps you full for a long time and has few calories.

#28 Carrots from the oven

Just peel a few carrots, cut them into strips and put them in the oven at 200°C until they take on a nice color.

#29 Bananas

As with some snacks before, the banana has not incredibly few calories, but makes longer full. An advantage that should not be underestimated.

#30 Guacamole

Armed with an avocado, you can quickly whip up a delicious guacamole. Simply pit the fruit and stir it into a paste. You can then season the whole thing with lemon and or chili.
Have fun trying them out and tasting them. If you know any other low calorie snacks, share them with us :)
