I love waffles. They taste good not only for breakfast and on weekends. I could eat them every day :)

If you train diligently, then you should make sure to eat enough protein.

To make sure you succeed, we present you the most delicious protein waffles in the world!

This protein waffle recipe with cottage cheese is:

  • gluten free
  • Without flour
  • very rich in protein
  • low in carbohydrates - low carb
  • sugar free
  • mega delicious :)

If you have problems with lactose, use lactose-free cottage cheese and vegan protein powder.

By the way: Protein powder with vanilla flavor is particularly suitable. This gives the waffles a particularly delicious sweetness.

What ingredients give the fitness waffles so much protein

With 14 grams of protein per waffle, you're doing your muscles a favor. And also your feeling of satiety. Because protein keeps you full for a long time.

But what exactly is responsible for protein waffles being such powerhouses?

There are these three ingredients: Eggs, cottage cheese and protein powder.

100 grams of eggs contain 10 grams of protein and 11.4 grams of fat. And just 1.1 grams of carbohydrates. They are the perfect base for the waffles.

If you don't want to use so many eggs, you can use only 1 egg instead of 3 and replace the missing liquid with milk.

Have you ever heard the saying: curd makes you strong! And that is also true. Because in low-fat curd cheese there is a lot of protein, little fat and hardly any carbohydrates.

If you ask yourself the question: full-fat or low-fat quark? Then go for low-fat quark. It contains 12 grams of protein per 100 grams and 0.3 grams of fat. Conventional quark has 9.5 grams of protein and 10.2 grams of fat.

So with low-fat quark, you're trading fat for a higher protein content.

Protein rich breakfast

And then we have the protein powder. In our waffles ends up Protein powder from Foodspring*. It is particularly high quality and does not taste artificial. Basically, the waffles work with any protein powder. However, pay attention to the ingredients and natural sweetness.

In terms of taste, vanilla is the best. Followed by chocolate or protein powder with nut flavor. With strawberry or other fruity powders I have not had good experiences so far. Tastes somehow strange as a wafer. :)

In this recipe ends up Protein powder from Foodspring*, which is sweetened with stevia. It is therefore sugar-free and therefore much lower in calories than other varieties.

Especially with fruit, you can create many delicious combinations. If you want to keep it low in carbohydrates, then you should focus on fruit with few carbs.

These fruits contain little fructose and thus usually also few calories. And there really are a lot of them!

By the way, you can transport the waffles in a snack box wonderfully. So you have a quick meal at work, at university or simply on the road.

Then you just put the fruit in an extra box. Or you just eat the waffles. Even so they taste mega delicious :)

How to store protein waffles properly

Have you made too much? Then, of course, you don't have to eat it all right away. You can also eat the protein wafers later. They taste almost as fresh if you store them properly.

Important: Let the waffles cool before you cover them or put them in the refrigerator.

Once the protein waffles are cold, either put them in a tupperware box with a lid or place them on a plate and cover with foil.

Do not do without the foil or the lid. The waffles take on the smell of the refrigerator very quickly.

They also become dry and hard.

Waffles with protein powder

Just before eating, you can quickly warm them up in the microwave. And they taste just as fresh.

By the way, you can store protein waffles in the refrigerator for two days. If you still haven't managed to eat them all, then freeze them. Again, do not forget the lid or foil.

If you're in the mood for protein waffles, take them out of the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature for about an hour. Alternatively, you can use the defrosting program in the microwave.

Our conclusion

If you're craving a quick protein waffle recipe with cottage cheese, you'll love our recipe. It's quick, easy and mega delicious. Plus, you can store it in the fridge and combine it with berries, nuts or chocolate.

Enjoy! :)
