An embarrassing topic that no one wants to talk about. But heavy crotch sweating affects more women than you think. Find out what you can do about it here.

There is hardly anything more unpleasant than sweating in the crotch. Especially on hot summer days, the region down under quickly turns into a humid biotope. We can all gladly do without that, because one feels very uncomfortable when the balance in the most sensitive body zone is not right.

In principle, it is a normal process of the body. Nevertheless, it is embarrassing and you often do not even dare to tell your partner about it. And certainly not to friends or the doctor.

Excessive sweating in the intimate area can have a very negative effect on the psyche and partnership. It does little good to suffer in silence.

Here you can read what you can do about heavy perspiration on the intimate part of your body and why intimate perspiration occurs in the first place.

Why do you sweat in the crotch?

Sweating can occur in all parts of the body - from the classic armpits to the back, abdomen and intimate areas. Even in the crotch we have many sweat glands, they fulfill tasks such as cooling the body, protect the skin and provide for immune defense.

Sweating is a very normal process. Our body helps us not to overheat and cools us. The body temperature is regulated via sweat, the body cools itself down.

Pretty nasty, but there are particularly many sweat glands in the genital area. Just like in the armpits. Sometimes the perspiration is so strong that the underwear gets wet.

Most of the time, an unpleasant odor is added and you are already restricted in your everyday life. You feel ashamed and don't want anyone to see it, let alone smell it.

Overweight promotes intimate sweating

What you should know right up front: Every kilogram that you carry around too much can increase sweating in the intimate area.

Excess skin on the buttocks and thighs can promote sweat production. Everywhere where skin folds are formed, sweat is neat.

One reason why people sweat particularly readily between their legs is that the thighs touch when sitting, standing or walking. The skin contact promotes the flow of sweat and prevents air circulation.

Very many sufferers do not dare to talk to the doctor about it. Fortunately, there are a few little tricks that can make your life easier.

Can you sweat from the vagina?

Even though it feels like it - you don't sweat from the vagina, but around it. There are so many sweat glands placed in the intimate area that it often feels like the fluid is coming from the vagina itself.

If you notice a strange discharge - independent of sweating, then have it clarified by a gynecologist.

Sweating crotch tips

What can you do about crotch sweating?

  1. Intimate care with cold sage tea
  2. Use Intimdeo
  3. Choose breathable underwear
  4. Legs not crossed
  5. Proper hygiene
  6. Shave pubic area
  7. Use menstrual cup and tampons

Sage tea against intimate sweat

Whether on the feet, in the axles or in the intimate area, sage is a very good home remedy for excessive sweat.

Those who sweat a lot in the intimate area can counteract this with sage. Intimate care with cold sage tea can help neutralize the smell of sweat.

Sage helps you to reduce perspiration. To do this, you should drink it regularly - even cold. And treat the affected area with it.

Sage is said to prevent even vaginal fungus.

Why sage works against crotch sweating? It has an antibacterial effect and thus gives unpleasant odors no chance.

Apply the sage tea after showering. Dab the intimate area dry and then apply it with a cotton pad. Wait until the skin has absorbed it and then dress loosely and airily. Repeat this process every day.

Make sure you use untreated organic sage tea because our intimate area is very sensitive.

Use Intimdeos

Do not use a normal deodorant between the legs. The skin in the intimate area is mega sensitive. Conventional deodorant can cause skin irritation and also promote vaginal fungus.

For the crotch there are special antiperspirant products. They reduce sweat and neutralize odors. Make sure that there is no perfume, alcohol or preservative. All this can irritate the skin.

Intimate deodorants, foam and antiperspirant products should always be applied around the crotch. Make sure that they do not get between the labia and disturb the vaginal flora.

Better to take little and make sure that the product has enough time to act.

Breathable underwear against sweating

Stay away from synthetic materials. They may look sexy, but they are anything but comfortable to wear. The skin in the intimate area can not breathe and begins to sweat even more.

Odor in the genital area is usually caused by bacteria. If you are prone to this or often have cystitis, you should keep your hands off thongs. They can promote the bacteria from the anal area to the vagina.

By the way, this also applies to the clothes over the panties. Prefer airy, loose dresses and skirts to tight shorts and jeans. Linen pants are especially comfortable to wear and prevent excessive sweating. Avoid tights, leggings and other very tight-fitting legwear.

Do not cross legs when sitting

You have to sit a lot during work? That's a sweaty affair, especially at temperatures above 30°. If you're prone to crotch sweating, then you should pay attention to your sitting posture. The more air that gets to your private parts, the better it is.

Overturned legs are not miserable for the spine and posture in general, they strongly promote sweating in the intimate area.

With legs crossed, sweat can not evaporate and collects.

Always open your legs slightly when sitting. If possible, you can occasionally switch to cross-legged sitting.

But it's even better if you have the option of standing while you work. This is not only healthier for your posture, but also automatically solves the sweating problem.

Proper hygiene

The number one piece of advice is to pay attention to hygiene. But I'm sure you do that anyway. But a little refresher can't hurt.

So: Wash the intimate area regularly with water and very important: pH neutral soap, so as not to unbalance the vaginal flora. There is a special intimate wash lotion against unwanted odors*, which contains only natural ingredients and is therefore ideal for the sensitive vaginal flora.

Underwear should be washed at 60°, the same applies to towels. After sports, always shower and change immediately.

Shave pubic area

Shaving off your pubic hair hardly helps with crotch sweating, but it's better for the smell.

Because in the hair bacteria can collect more easily and thus increase the odor. And of course the hair is like an extra layer. So you're wearing hair, panties and pants. At least you can remove or shorten the hair.

So if you want to sweat less in the intimate area, you should go bottomless in the summer.

Menstrual cup and tampons instead of pads

When you have your period, sweating in the crotch is doubly unpleasant. It gets a little better if you do without pads or panty liners.

They are mostly made of plastic, which hardly allows air to reach the skin. Similar to pubic hair, you thus create an additional layer.

Menstrual cup and tampons are more comfortable to wear when it is hot outside.

If you want, you can make a Order menstrual cup online* or at the drugstore. I am very happy with my Lunette menstrual cup*.

If you feel unsafe, use additional washable panty liners. They are made of cotton, and you can simply pack more on particularly hot days. Change them as soon as you no longer feel fresh enough and collect the used ones in a bag.

At home, you put the washable panty liners in the washing machine and you're done.

Tips against sweating in the crotch

Why do I sweat between my legs when I exercise?

During training, we sweat everywhere. Often and often also strongly in the crotch. This is because there are many sweat glands here on the one hand and on the other hand because there is simply no air circulation here.

You can do little against the sweating in the intimate area during sports, because training naked is not possible. Unless you train at home :)

  • Wear special sportswear and not cotton, it absorbs sweat, transports it to the outside and prevents you from feeling wet
  • Wear patterned clothing. And never light gray or light blue - this is where you see sweat stains first. Black shorts or heavily patterned pants hide the problem.

What you should definitely refrain from

Do not wash your genital area too often. The unpleasant smell will disappear, but it may cause other problems.

If you use normal shower gel or wash too intensively, you will disturb the flora of the vagina. Then you will soon have to fight with vaginal mycosis.

Always use only intimate washing lotion and wash the intimate area with it no more than once a day. If you feel the need to wash more often due to odor, use only water.

What are the consequences of extreme crotch sweating?

On the one hand, there are the psychological consequences. But physical consequences can also occur. Excessive crotch sweating can negatively affect the vaginal flora.

Fungi, vaginosis and eczema

Bacterial vaginosis is one of the most common consequences. This infection causes very unpleasant odors in the intimate area. If you have noticed something like this, you should have it checked out quickly by a gynecologist.

But vaginal fungus also occurs in many cases. It leaves no odor, but itching and unpleasant burning. Both diseases can be treated well, but are also very stubborn and often occur at regular intervals.

Eczema also occurs when we sweat excessively in the intimate area. This is often caused by yeast fungi, which leave behind reddened areas and greasy scales.

Psychological effects of intimate sweating

Very often, in addition to sweat, there is also itching in the intimate area. Sweat stains that can be seen on clothing are also very unpleasant. And not to mention the body odor.

Affected people therefore often withdraw. They no longer appear in public and avoid friends and family. The partnership can also be affected.

Very many are ashamed of the heavy sweating in the intimate area, which can even destroy the relationship.

When it always runs: Hyperhidrosis

Do you sweat for no apparent reason, even in your crotch? Hyperhidrosis affects about two million people in Germany. This is excessive sweating that usually affects the hands, feet and armpits. Since the reasons for this condition can be varied, a doctor should always be consulted if you suspect it.

Sweating can also be reduced by surgical removal of the sweat glands. However, aluminum salts or physical methods are often sufficient to improve the condition.

Our conclusion

Sweating in the crotch is perfectly normal. Especially on hot days, this problem affects more women than you think. Try wearing airy clothes, sitting properly and using the appropriate intimate hygiene. If it does not get better, the first place to go is your family doctor or a dermatologist.

All the best for you!
