Soap for many applications

Dry, sensitive, oily? Our skin can go through many conditions. Artificial colors and additives have a very negative effect. The power of nature is in demand. Additives have no place in our homemade soaps.

Already in ancient Egypt and Greece people made soaps themselves.

At that time, however, a little different than now. For soap making used to use animal fats, wood and vegetable ash.

In the Arab world, vegetable fats have been used since the 7th century. Here we join. :)

make soap yourself with instruction

Very famous among soap lovers is Aleppo soap, from Syria.

It consists of olive and laurel oil, which is mixed with vegetable ash. The secret of this soap lies in the long maturation process of many months. This makes it very mild and nourishing.

Making soaps yourself - the two variants in comparison

There are two ways to make soap. Important: Only professionals and advanced users should really experiment with caustic soda. Beginners should definitely keep their hands off it!

Soap with sodium hydroxide solution (NaOH)

If you want to boil soap with caustic soda, you have to take many precautions. You will need protective gloves, goggles and clothing.

The lye must not get on the skin or in the eyes under any circumstances. If it does happen, you must see a doctor immediately!

Making soaps yourself without lyes (with soap base)

It is easier and less dangerous to use soap-based products. You save yourself the dangerous work with the lye.

But making soaps yourself without lye is not only much easier, but also at least twice as fast. We have therefore opted for this variant.

The soap base comes in a block of soap. You can simply cut pieces of it into small pieces and then heat them over medium heat.

After heating, fragrance, color and other additives come into your homemade soap.

For our soap recipes we use these two soap bases

Making soaps yourself - step by step to homemade skin care

What you need to know about making soap yourself is that it is not a craft with children. It's best to follow our instructions step by step, then nothing can go wrong.

For each of the soaps you need about 15 minutes to make. After that you need to let it stand for a few hours until it is solid again.

Making soaps yourself - the preparation

We have tried 3 different recipes ourselves. But what they all have in common is the preparation. Here's what you need to make soap: a scale, bowls, a pot, soap molds.

It is best to cover your work surface with newspaper. Cut the desired amount of soap base into small pieces, then it melts faster. Now you need to liquefy the soap - this can be done in two ways:

In the microwave

Put the soap bases in a suitable container and heat the soap always in 15 second increments. Stir in between and check how solid the soap still is.

In water bath

Our favorite. Here you have more control, but it takes a little longer. Fill a small pot with water and bring it to a boil. Then add a smaller container of soap bases to the boiling water and wait until they are liquid. In between, stir again and again!

Then add the additional products and oils. Always stir well and then pour into the soap molds. After filling into the molds you need to rest your skin care at least 3 hours. The fastest way is in a cool room.
