How the ingredients of homemade detox face mask work

White clay* - Also called white mineral clay or bentonite powder. Whatever you call the light powder - it has a strong detoxifying effect.

Unlike normal Healing earth* binds white clay* residues even better. It can draw a lot of toxic substances out of the tissue and cleanse the skin deep into the pores.

Jojoba oil* - you should always have at hand when you are dealing with natural cosmetics and want to make a detox mask yourself.

Indeed, the oil gives the mask the smooth consistency. But it also does our skin pretty good. Jojoba moisturizes the skin and is a miracle weapon for oily and blemished skin.

Tea tree oil* smells a bit strong, but it does the skin a lot of good. Namely, it has a disinfectant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect.

It takes away the basis for bacteria to cause pimples and blemishes.

How to use the Detox Mask correctly

Congratulations! You've done it. Making your own detox mask isn't that hard, is it? But now it's a matter of applying it correctly.

  1. Tie your hair back. This can otherwise become quite a mess :)
  2. Cleanse your face. Wash off makeup, creams, excess oil and dirt with a mild cleansing lotion. The detox face mask works best when you apply it to clean skin. Otherwise, the impurities may get worse.
  3. Wash your hands thoroughly. Apply it to the skin with your fingers. You can alternatively use a mask brush.
  4. It's best to lie down on the sofa very carefully. Do not forget to put a towel underneath!
  5. Wait 15 minutes. The detox face mask now begins to dry.
  6. Wash off the mask with lukewarm water.
  7. Pat the face dry and apply a moisturizer.

You have made too much? Then you can store the remaining mixture in a jar. And very important: Put the lid on, otherwise the face mask will dry out. You can now store it in the refrigerator for about 5 days.

What other ingredients can be in your DIY mask

  • Rose oil* It makes the skin particularly soft and moisturizes it.
  • Activated carbon* It removes sebum and dirt from our skin. It is a very good basis if you want to make a detox mask yourself.
  • Healing earth* It cleanses the skin deep into the pores and absorbs sebum.
  • Green grapes - They provide more elasticity to the skin and have a detoxifying effect.
  • Green Mineral Earth - If you choose Green Earth, you will benefit on many levels. It binds toxins, sebum and dirt. At the same time, you can use it to loosen old skin flakes. It clears the complexion and makes the skin rosy.
  • Sesame oil is suitable for sallow and poorly perfused skin. Also, if you are prone to dry skin, you should mix it into the face mask.
  • Aloe vera gel* has a soothing and moisturizing effect. Especially good if you have reddened skin.
  • Oatmeal has an exfoliating effect on the skin. It is best to chop them very small with a sharp knife. Dry and sensitive skin will be pleased with a load of oatmeal.
  • Lavender oil* - ethereal Lavender oil* Soothes the skin. It is said to have a harmonizing effect. The fragrance also helps us to relax.

How often you should make a detox mask yourself

So much in advance: Not every day! That is much too much and dries out your skin. It defends itself against it and begins to produce more sebum. So you would only make it worse if you want to make a detox mask every day!

Ideal is 1-2x per week. This gives your skin time to regenerate.

It is very important that you apply cream to the skin afterwards. The ingredients of the mask remove fat from the skin. It is therefore very dry. It is best to use a face cream for impure skin.

Our conclusion

There are lots of metabolic wastes and toxins that are released through the skin. When we have gone overboard, we notice that the skin becomes impure and greasy. Chocolate, white flour and sugar in large quantities can be seen very quickly in the appearance of the skin.

Give your face a break and cleanse the pores so that the skin can breathe again. The best way to do this is with a face mask.

By the way, it's more fun in pairs. Ask a dear friend if she would like to make a detox mask together with you. Good luck! :)
