Everything is better with music. A workout you don't feel like doing is suddenly half as bad and even fun. Here you can find my music for running.

I always get questions about motivation for training: How can I motivate myself to work out? Or: What do you do when you don't feel like working out?

Yes, the one with the Motivation is such a topic in itself. When you finish reading this blog post, you can get started right away.

Running or workout without music? That's not possible at all! Unimaginable for me! Where is the fun in the matter?

Motivation through music for running

Studies have shown that music helps to find the rhythm while running. Music also helps to increase the intensity of jogging subconsciously. And a few nice sounds during the workout also help to really pull through a training plan and not to give up.

An extra goodie: It just feels good! There's nothing worse than not being able to get off the ground and hearing yourself puffing loudly - without music, there's no energy and no motivation.

To avoid lacking motivation in the first place, you should always combine your workout with music. As soon as the music is on, the motivation to really go through with it increases. It works for me. But you need the right music for running! You can imagine that ballads are not suitable. At least for running and cardio workout. For stretching exercises you can listen to a ballad - but I don't do that - here I'm missing the beat that makes me want to keep going.

What the professional says

I've collected tips from a bootcamp instructor for you. Matty Maggiacomo shares his recommendations on music for running. Unbelievable what there are calculations for.

He says, "The perfect playlist makes a very big difference and helps keep motivation and pace." The number of song beats per minute helps find the rhythm. On Spotify, there are ready-made lists of music for running that follow these suggested rhythms.

I'd better come clean right away: I love Spotify. Finally, I no longer have to think forever and laboriously create playlists. Dreamlike. When I think how long I've often sat and thought up songs that then did not fit.

It took me longer to find music for running than for training. In the end I was annoyed - even the best music couldn't cheer me up. Fortunately, those days are over :)

Tips for music for running

Warm-up: 115 to 125 beats per minute

As with any workout, we start nice and slow and leisurely with running. With the warm-up music, you'll start walking quickly and begin jogging lightly.

Running: 120 to 140 beats per minute

2 tracks are enough in my experience. Now it's down to the nitty gritty :) You are now in the biggest part of the run. This music is designed to support you through distances and keep you happy.

Conclusion: 140 beats and more

Full throttle again at the end. With this music it works. The beats are now at least 140 per minute. That's really fast. Perfect for short distances and your final sprint.
