Beautiful and soft lips - what woman doesn't want that? I'll tell you a simple recipe that you can use to make your own lip balm.

Do your lips feel dry and rough? Or are they sore and burning? Environmental influences such as dry air, too much sun or wind can really affect us.

A balm promises quick relief. But you don't have to go to the drugstore for it, it's really easy to make your own lip balm.

Today I want to show you how you can give your lips an extra dose of attention.

You have really earned it!

I will now show you how you can make your own lip balm quickly, easily and with just a few ingredients.

If you're ready, let's get started! 😊

Why should I make lip balm myself?

Do you know chapped lips? You start by picking away at the flakes of skin with your fingers or teeth. Constantly picking at them, scratching and biting.

And it's happened again: The lips bleed and actually everything is much worse than before.

You can prevent this by moisturizing your lips. This prevents the small skin flakes from forming in the first place.

A DIY chapstick is quickly made and the best way of prophylaxis. Simply apply regularly and the lips are velvety soft and cared for.

Make your own lip balm is a good alternative to ready-made products from the supermarket. You know what ingredients are included and can vary the color and taste.

In the supermarket, drugstore or even perfumeries you can buy countless beautifiers for the lips. Mostly they are expensive, full of questionable ingredients and often only little satisfactory.

Kerosene is found in many finished lip creams. You look in vain for protection and care in such products. Instead of providing soft lips, kerosene products dry them out even more.

Especially if you suffer from sensitive skin, you should keep your hands off. My suggestion: you can make your own lip balm.

It is not complicated to make effective lip care yourself.

I like to make the balm as a small gift for my girlfriends. Last year for Christmas, each of them got my homemade lip balm and was insanely happy about it. For Lisa I made one with lavender scent, Vera got one with jasmine scent and Lina was happy about rose scent.

I always order the ingredients from Amazon. If you buy the products in the health food store, they are very expensive and often not available. With one order I get along very long.

The basic ingredients for your personal lip care

Here come the ingredients you need to make it. I ordered them all from Amazon in bulk.

Beeswax in DIY chapstick

Beeswax* provides the firm consistency and ensures that the balm stays on your lips for a long time.

Without Beeswax* The other ingredients are absorbed far too quickly. And your homemade chapstick melts at room temperature.

Shea butter as lip care

Shea butter* softens and moisturizes your chapped lips. The butter has a wound-healing effect. And it gives your lips a natural shine.

Shea butter* forms a barrier against wind and weather.

Coconut oil to make lip balm yourself

Coconut oil* makes your chapped lips velvety soft, adds great flavor to the care and gives your homemade lip balm even more shine.

Lipstick and vanilla for flavor and color

Lipstick* brings color and flavor to your lip care. However, since most of them taste pretty empty, I still pack a little Vanilla flavoring* in the recipe.

If you've made your own lip balm before, you'll develop a sensitivity to the ratio of ingredients.

I now just do it by feel and it works every time :)

By the way, the lipstick brings the desired color and some flavor to our care product.

But I just always reach for natural cosmetics without artificial contents and lipstick without animal tests.

How to make a lip balm yourself

Are you ready? Then let's get started. I'll explain step by step how to make lip care. These detailed instructions are intended for anyone who has not yet had much to do with natural cosmetics.

If you already have previous knowledge, you can find a short instruction for the balm at the end of the article. In any case, here is the long version.

Incidentally, you can order important products that you need for these instructions cheaply from Amazon. These include

So, now let's start. Already set the Cream jar* open, they will be filled in the next 5 minutes. That's how quickly this recipe is ready.

Ingredients

Also: Cream jar* with screw cap, saucepan, empty jam jar, wooden spoon for stirring

1. prepare the water bath

We melt all the ingredients in a water bath. This is particularly gentle and the individual ingredients can combine well with each other.

Go in search of an empty jar. Old jam jars with a large opening are quite suitable.

Grab a saucepan. Place a jam jar in the pot. Fill the pot with water until the jar is about 5 cm in the water. However, no water should get into the jar itself. So please pay attention.

Always place the glass in cold water so that it does not crack!

Turn on the stove. The water doesn't have to boil, the ingredients melt even at low temperatures. I usually use medium temperature.

2. melt the ingredients

First you enter the Beeswax* into the glass. Stir it and wait until it has melted. Next come Coconut oil* and Shea butter* in addition.

Here, too, the key is to stir well and wait.

3. flavor and color for the lip balm

Finally, add vanilla flavoring and a small piece of lipstick. Try it with a little lipstick at first and then increase the amount. The lip balm should have a light color and not be too bright.

I take ½ to 1 cm of the lipstick. Stir again until you have a nice, uniform mixture.

When the balsam becomes solid, the color will change. To see if you are satisfied with the result, you just need to take the wooden spoon out of the jar. The mass will solidify quite quickly.

Are you happy with the color? Then it's time to fill it in. If not: Add a little more lipstick.

By the way: If you want, you can also Glitter* Stir in.

4. fill the lip care

Remove the glass from the water bath with a tea towel. Attention: very hot!

Pour the balsam quickly before it becomes solid. If it still becomes solid, then melt it again in a water bath.

Let the lip balm cool and you're done!

The best care routine for very chapped and dry lips

Are your lips in a total mess right now? Dry, chapped and even slightly bloody? Then a store-bought balm can actually have the opposite effect to what you want. Many store-bought products are also drying. This should motivate us to keep lubricating and not get rid of the products in the first place.

Remember: Lips need a lot of care. The skin is thin and vulnerable. The better care you take, the less likely they are to dry out, become chapped or burn.

If you are just starting your skincare routine, it can help if you begin with pure oil. If your lips are very damaged, I recommend applying an additional nourishing cream. You can do this with this DIY marigold ointment try!

Only when the lips have calmed down again do you apply balm.

By the way: these Home remedies help against cold sores!

Treat your lips in between a DIY lip scrubto remove skin flakes and soften them.

Make lip balm yourself chapstick

When I fill the lip balm into lip balm jars and give them as gifts, I stick colorful paper around or on the lid. This way, the homemade lip balm looks different every time 🙂

My tip: If your lip balm is cold and firm, hold the jar in your hands for a short time. The balm is best applied to your lips at room temperature.

Our conclusion

It's super easy to make your own lip balm. In around 10 minutes, you'll be ready to give your lips the care they deserve.

Use high-quality organic ingredients to nourish the skin. However, if your lips are very chapped or even bloody, apply a calendula cream or ointment first. If you apply cream regularly, you will prevent the skin from drying out and always have a beautifully soft kissable mouth 😗

Have fun making it and good luck!
