Make your own lip gloss is very easy! So your lips are beautifully shiny and soft in a few minutes. Today I show you how to implement this DIY project the easiest way.

If I hadn't tried it myself, I probably wouldn't have believed it either: making lip gloss yourself is mega easy.

Lip gloss gives the lips a slight shine. Unlike lipstick, it looks much more natural.

You don't have to be so precise when applying it, so if a little goes astray, no one will notice.

Do you want to use it because you have dry and chapped lips? Then treat your kissing mouth first time a quick lip scrub. This can also be made yourself with just a few ingredients.

Why should I make lip gloss myself?

Have you ever looked at the promises of purchased products? Keeps ultra long, gives extra shine and much more is on the lip gloss. Sounds really good at first. But this is only possible if a lot of chemical ingredients are packed into the lip gloss.

Since you apply the gloss to your lips, the artificial additives enter your body particularly quickly. Dyes, preservatives, parabens, microplastics and much more. No, thanks. That really doesn't have to be.

You can save yourself a lot of money by making your own lip gloss. Because it's so easy to make, I always make larger quantities and then share it with my girlfriends.

Everyone is happy about DIY natural cosmetics. Whether for a birthday, holidays or just because you are happy to have such a good friend.

Homemade lip gloss can have a strong or light glitter effect.

It can be colorless, slightly pink, slightly darker or colored with pigments.

That is already the biggest plus point, which goes to the lip gloss itself. How it should look, you have yourself in hand! Vanilla, rose or orange? You can also decide on the fragrance yourself.

You buy the ingredients for it once and can make large quantities from them. I fill the same Cream jar* again and again - this saves me a lot of plastic waste. The ingredients themselves are quite inexpensive in larger quantities. A portion of the lip balm costs just a few cents.

DIY lip gloss makes itself very good as a homemade gift at Christmas, birthdays or just because your girlfriend deserves to be gifted.

What effect do the ingredients have?

Let's quickly take a look at the ingredients. What effect do they have on the lips?

Is beeswax good for the lips?

Beeswax* ensures that creams, glosses and balms are smooth and firm. It is quickly absorbed by the skin and does not leave a greasy film. The wax has a relaxing and soothing effect on the lips. That is why it should not be missing from any lip balm.

How good is shea butter for the skin?

Natural Shea butter* without additives is very good for the skin. It provides rich and intensive moisture. It has a soothing effect on the lips. At the same time, it is very well tolerated - even by sensitive skin. Dry and sensitive skin in particular benefits from this plant-based butter.

Because it is not so quickly absorbed, it leaves a beautiful velvety Glitter* on the skin and is therefore one of the most important components of lip gloss.

Is cocoa butter good for the skin?

Cocoa butter* has a very high fat content. It is therefore a natural and nourishing remedy for damaged skin. Dry and chapped lips love this vegetable butter. Its high content of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids as well as its vitamins, antioxidants and minerals strengthen the cells.

Is almond oil good for the lips?

Yes, because Almond oil* provides a lot of moisture. It is ideal for rough, dry and chapped lips. This is particularly useful in the cold season. Almond oil* is well tolerated by all skin types and also cares for very sensitive skin until it becomes soft and smooth.

As an alternative to almond oil you can use Jojoba oil*Use thistle or marigold oil.

How can I refine homemade lip gloss?

A little natural fragrance and a little color may already land in the DIY lip gloss. Because tastes are different, we have collected a few delicious flavors and options for colors together.

Fragrance and flavor for lip gloss

The easiest way to add flavor to DIY lip care is with essential oils.

But be careful when dosing! Essential oils are highly concentrated and can cause allergic reactions! Love to take too little than too much and test beforehand on the back of the hand before you bring the cream to the lips.

It smells wonderfully flowery and exotic when you make your own lip gloss, when you Rose oil, Vanilla or Ylang Ylang you use. Lemon, tangerine, orange and peppermint have a refreshing effect.

Tip: Peppermint oil* provides a natural push-up effect for the lips because it stimulates blood circulation.

Important: Always stir in the oil at the very end, when the lip gloss is already starting to cool down. Essential oils have many different effects on our body. Some have a calming effect, others perk us up and still others have health benefits. If you want to know more about it, it's best to check here: "How essential oils work"

The special gloss: Nutella or honey

If you have very chapped lips, add a teaspoon of honey to the recipe. It has antibacterial property, nourishes the skin and tastes very fine.

Those with a sweet tooth will love lip gloss with Nutella. Add very little Nutella or another nougat cream to the recipe. In this case, do not use other fragrances and keep it very natural.

Color for lip gloss

Visually, you can enhance your lip care a little with color.

The easiest way to do this is with lipsticks from natural cosmetics or Food coloring*.

I keep my hands off pearlescent pigments and the like. They often contain metal oxides that I don't really want in my body.

Beet powder, strawberry powder or raspberry powder also provide color. Big advantage: They bring a delicious taste and scent to the gloss at the same time.

How to make lip gloss with petroleum jelly?

As a beginner the variant with Vaseline* often the easiest. Even if you are still Vaseline* lying around at home, you can simply conjure up a lip gloss from it.

Follow these instructions:

Make your own lip care

Why lip gloss does not last?

If you have very dry and chapped lips, even the best lip gloss won't help. It disappears from the lips within a few minutes and leaves no shine. It is therefore important that you care for your lips regularly and provide them with creams, especially in the cold season.

Lip peels should be part of your routine if you tend to have dry skin. You remove dead skin flakes and prepare the lips for the gloss.

Our conclusion

Make lip gloss yourself is quite simple. In an old jar, the ingredients are mixed and melted within 5 minutes. Then quickly fill and your lips are ready to shine! 😊

Have fun making them!
