What is coconut water?

Most people believe that inside the coconut is the coconut milk. I must confess that I also held this assumption.

The coconut milk is made from the pulp of a fresh and already ripe coconut. However, the coconut water is found in the young, green coconuts. It is taken directly and fresh from the coconut. If you briefly prepare the coconut water a little, it is a very tasty drink.

If you don't harvest the coconut but let it ripen, the flesh will gradually absorb the coconut water.

In the end, there is only a thick layer of pulp and very little coconut water left in the brown coconut.

To preserve the water, it is very important to harvest the fruit when young. The coconut milk is mostly used for cocktails and for cooking and baking. The coconut water, on the other hand, is mostly drunk pure or mixed with fruit juice.

The coconut water has only 15 calories per 100 ml, but contains quite valuable vital substances. It is full of Magnesium, Copper, potassium as well as with antioxidants and vitamins.

These nutrients make the coconut water already very attractive. However, it must also be said that coconut water is inherently isotonic is.

Therefore, it is also super as a sports drink. Per 100 grams there are about 0.23 grams of dissolved Salts in the coconut water. This is really super. The isotonic properties of coconut water are therefore excellent for replenishing your body with minerals and fluids after exercise.

A few sips of the water after the workout is a natural way to avoid dehydration and promote the absorption of electrolytes in the body. Responsible for this are the 95% liquid that make up the coconut water.

Per 100 grams, the coconut water has 4 grams of sugar, even if you drink coconut water in larger quantities, this is a reasonable value.

A question that people often ask is whether coconut water is healthy and at the same time suitable for weight loss. Unfortunately, the sobering answer is that coconut water does not necessarily make the kilos fall.
