Lots of protein, hardly any carbohydrates and a lot of flavor. Try to prepare these delicious tuna cakes low carb!

Do you want to lose weight or are you working out and need a lot of protein? Then you should definitely try these delicious tuna cakes.

But because fritters alone are not enough, we prepare the tuna cakes low carb. Because let's be honest: We all eat far too many carbohydrates.

I want to show you that you can be full without carbs. And that you can prepare roasts not only from meat.

The fish loafs are mega delicious, prepared very quickly and no witchcraft even for novice cooks.

What ingredients do I need for low carb tuna cakes?

Before we get to the recipe, let's take a look at the ingredients. After all, you should know what you're eating.

A few oat flakes here, a little flour there - No. Because then too many carbohydrates end up in our low carb tuna cakes. By the way, you don't need binders like flour for these patties anyway. They hold together without it and don't fall apart in the pan - why? Let's take a look at that now.

Most people only know patties with minced meat, but there are countless variations. From vegan, low carb, Paleo to pure vegetable patties. You can bring pretty much everything in the form of patties. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about - I'm a big fan of all kinds of meatballs.

But let's quickly look at what you need to prepare for this recipe.

Tuna

He is the star among the ingredients. This time it plays the leading role and provides taste and consistency. Tuna is a must on the plate of most athletes. It contains an unbeatable 29 grams of protein per 100 grams. And just 100 calories per 100 grams.

It satiates for a long time and is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. If you want to save calories and fat, reach for canned fish in its own juice.

Low-fat curd cheese

We incorporate another source of protein into the patties. Namely, low-fat quark. It has an average of 13 grams of protein per 100 grams. It, too, should not be missing from the diet of health-conscious people. If you only have classic quark at home, you can of course also use it.

Quark provides the creamy and juicy consistency in the tuna cakes.

Eggs in the tuna patties

To prevent the patties from falling apart later, the egg comes into play. It sets during frying and makes the patties firm. It also ensures that the patties get this beautiful color during frying.

Almonds

Grated almonds* bring healthy fats and another load of protein into play. If you don't have any to hand, you can also ground hazelnuts* Use whole almonds. If you only have whole almond kernels, simply chop them up with a knife - you should still be able to see some pieces.

Almonds provide a little more bite and just the healthy fats.

Spices

The remaining ingredients are for flavor. Garlic powder, chili, mustard, salt, pepper and parsley. You can add them to the recipe as you like. Chili, by the way, is optional and recommended only for those who like it spicy. You can just leave it out, it changes little - except for the spiciness.

You can find more inspiration for spices under the recipe. Here I have written down a list of ingredients that do well in the base. Maybe there is one or another idea for you.

If you like to cook for yourself and are careful about low carbs, then you will find many more recipes in the Happy Carb Cookbook . To be precise, there are 150 low carb recipes that are really delicious. The inspiration for the loaves I also have from the book. The book is by blogger Bettina Meiselbach, who herself is an enthusiastic low-carber and has thus lost 60 kg.

What side dish makes tuna cakes low carb

Normally you would have potatoes as a side dish now. Or maybe make sauce and then serve with pasta. But then the whole thing would no longer be low carb.

So what do we do now?

My absolute favorite is cucumber salad with sour cream, dill and garlic. This also makes the whole thing a bit juicier.

A crisp green salad also goes very well with the meatballs. Either classic green or a colorful mix of many delicious ingredients. If you are on a low-carbohydrate diet, then of course all of the Side dishes from our low carb side dish list to the frying pies.

If you're serious about low carb, you should avoid using high-carbohydrate ingredients in your salad. You can make a low-carb salad from many delicious vegetables.

A quick dip of sour cream, finely chopped herbs and garlic completes the recipe.

Your mouth is already watering? Very good! :) Then let's get started right away! Here come the best tuna cakes you've ever eaten.
