Have you ever heard of natural plant color for hair? I come across an advertisement on Instagram and immediately become curious. My hair urgently needs a makeover anyway. I tested it for you. I'm recording my Thats me Organic experiences for you here. The hair dyes are really that good - the big self-test!

I love my long hair. But my Natural hair color is unfortunately quite boring. Somehow dark blonde and yet somehow not.

Apart from the color, I am very happy with my mane. The Hair grows quicklyThey are strong, have a natural shine and I hardly have any split ends despite having long hair.

One reason for this is certainly that I only use my hair maximum Dye 2x per year. The chemicals in hair dyes can quickly damage your mane. dull, straw-like and dry make

In between, I therefore place a Homemade moisturizer on.

With good 12 cm offspring it really is time for the hairdresser again. But somehow I don't feel like sitting idly in the hairdresser's chair all morning again. There are so many things I could do in that time.

The decision has been made: I'm going to dye my hair at home.

During my research I then stumble across Plant-based hair dyes from Thats Me Organic. Without chemicals, without harmful additives. And you can dye in the comfort of your own home. Sounds like a great plan and exactly what I'm looking for.

But does it really work that well? I've never dyed my own hair before and therefore have no idea. It could definitely be entertaining and exciting. 😂

I will now share my Thats Me Organic experiences with you. It will be interesting to see how I get on and what the result looks like. Will I manage to dye my hair for the first time or will I end up at the hairdresser again? 😯

Who or what is Thats Me Organic?

For shampoos, hair masks and hair colors, the list of Ingredients long. Nobody really understands what exactly is behind the individual additives. All we know is that there are lots of synthetic additives which are not good for hair, skin or the environment. They can even cause serious health problems.

It should be different with Plant hair colors be like Thats Me Organic* offers.

Behind Thats Me Organic is a natural hairdresser Diana Hoffmann. She has specialized in natural hair care products free from chemicals. The company is best known for its plant-based hair dyes. However, there are also hair shampoos, hair masks and much more made from organic raw materials.

Diana says in her podcast: "I've always been fascinated by hair." However, she already had major skin problems during her hairdressing apprenticeship and master school because she had to work with chemicals. While searching for alternatives to traditional hair dyes, she came across plant-based hair dyes.

After a few years and attempts, the time had come: Thats Me Organic was born*. And a few years later, I stumbled across it by chance and thought to myself: I have to try this! 😊

There is also a very large selection of shades for plant-based hair dyes.

What are plant-based hair dyes and how do they work?

Vegetable hair dyes are hair dyes that are made from natural ingredients such as plant extracts, herbs and minerals. They offer an environmentally friendly and healthier alternative to conventional chemical hair dyes. Diana says: "With plant hair dyes you can Hair color without chemicals and they Keep healthy.“

Plant-based hair dyes are particularly popular with people who have sensitive skin or want to avoid chemical substances in conventional hair dyes.

Diana explains: "Any woman can use our plant-based hair dyes, even if she is pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also suitable for anyone who is allergic to conventional colors."

What makes Thats Me Organic different from other manufacturers?

As I said, I really have no idea about hair coloring. Until now, I've always left it in the hands of my hairdresser. I've never left the salon for less than three hours. I only ever have time for it on Saturdays. So half the weekend is basically gone.

Yes, I know that you shouldn't see it so narrowly and that a visit to the hairdresser can also be nice. But I'm not a fan of it at all. 😂

If you look at other Thats Me Organic experiences and reviews then it is noticeable that again and again the Live consultation is mentioned. It's supposed to be particularly good. Well, I'm curious to see if they can cope with a beginner like me 🤭

Staff member Judith and Diana advise on color, quantity, application time, etc.

Unlike with many other hair colorants, at Thats Me Organic you are really taken by the hand and advised from start to finish. You can Diana and Judith about Whatsapp or Telegram* and take part in the live consultation.

In the consultation, you can send voice messages, text messages and photos. Judith replies with videos and links in addition to text and voice messages. There is no phone call, but that's good because I listened to the messages 5 times before coloring them so as not to make any mistakes.

During the live consultation, you can choose from color mixtures mixed especially for you or from existing colors.

The live consultation - this is how it works

Okay, so the advice is supposed to be particularly good. Let's see what I can tell you about it.

I write on Sunday afternoon directly about the Advice on the website* and I will be redirected to Whatsapp.

As soon as I send it off, I receive an automated message back, in which I am warmly welcomed. It also says that consultations are available from Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 3 pm. So I have to wait.

But there are a few links to click on and also a video so that I can get an idea of plant hair colors.

Like this video:

Judith asks me for pictures of my hair. One of the roots and one of the entire length. She also wants me to tell her when and how I last colored my hair and whether I use a root spray.

My hair is so long that it's not so easy for me to take selfies with the entire length of my hair. How good that I still have a cell phone tripod somewhere 😄

Memo to self: I really need to get my hair cut again. I have a feeling that the plant hair color before and after photos will just be a lot of hair. 😅 But actually ideal for my Thats Me Organic experience report: I have a dark root and comparatively very light ends.

All right, this is me before I dyed my hair with the plant hair dye:

Plant hair color experience
This is me before the transformation. I send these and similar photos to Judith from Thats Me Organic during the consultation.

I tell Judith during the consultation that I would like to stick to my natural hair color, but that it somehow seems too boring to me. So I don't want light blonde or dark brown. Let's see what Judith recommends.

Currently A total of 31 colors to choose from*.

Judith quickly realizes: "Warm Honey Blonde"*. A warm dark blonde with lots of shine in a natural shade.

After I have found the color in the store and put it in the shopping cart, it is mixed for me: "My husband and I still mix the plant hair colors ourselves and pack each order by hand," Diana explains to me.

If, like me, you don't have any accessories can also buy utensils in the online store* such as brushes, hoods, thermometers and co.

Diana has given us an exclusive Thats Me Organic discount code for all We Go Wild fans. With Gowild10 you can 10 % on the entire order!

After 3 days, the delivery is already with me. In my box I find:

  • 1x thermometer
  • 1x gloves

Additionally also a Organic care shampoo and an organic hair mask.*

Now the tension is rising 😅

The preparations

Oh, man. Somehow I'm really scared of coloring. I don't even know what I have to do. It will go wrong.

It's Saturday evening. I was told during the live consultation that you should take your time on your first attempt. That's why I start relaxed at 6 pm. I spread the instructions out in front of me again, open the WhatsApp history and read Judith's messages.

I know that in my case I have to use the color 3 hours for a long time. Whereby the Approach 2.5 hours takes a long time and the bright Tips only 30 minutes.

The good thing is that, compared to the hairdresser, I can now do things at home on the side that I've been putting off for a while. I use the first 30 minutes to complete this article. And then bake two loaves of bread and a cake. 😄

Before you start dyeing, you need to wash your hair. A small shampoo is included for this purpose.

Put on the tea water, mix the paint

Plant hair color Advantages Disadvantages
Mix plant hair color, apply and then it's time to wait.

Although my hair Warm Honey Blonde* the hair dye is green. At first glance, it looks like matcha powder.

The powder is mixed with black tea and then turns a muddy green to brownish color. It can now be applied to the hair.

Incidentally, the tea bag is included in the scope of delivery and ensures that the paint has the ideal pH value. This allows it to work better. The tea water is not used for coloring, so it can also be used for very light shades.

This is how the dyeing process works:

  • Boil the tea - you will find out the exact amount of powder and tea in the live consultation.
  • Allow the tea to cool - use a thermometer for this. The tea must be at exactly 50 degrees.
  • Stir the powder and tea in a bowl with a brush until smooth.
  • The color is perfect when it is roughly yogurt-like.
  • Now you can start brushing in. To do this, separate the hair into two sections with a middle parting.
  • And then you ask your friend to help you dye your hair 😄

I have not alone dared to take on this project. After all, I've never dyed my hair before. But it works really well with teamwork. You can also ask a friend for help, she probably has more nerve for the project 😅

My friend applies the color to my towel-dried hair with a brush. The color can be Apply very well. It doesn't run off and stays where it should - the consistency reminds me of a peat pack.

Because my roots are a completely different color than the tips, I only have to dye the roots first.

To do this, I hold all my hair up. My friend brushes the roots. Finally, I knead through the roots again with my gloves to really get every strand.

I wrap them in a plastic bag so that the tips remain untouched.

Now I wipe the paint off my forehead, ears and the back of my neck. To do this, I take a handkerchief and soak it in water. Now put the Absorbent cotton from the delivery to the Hairline along. Caution: Do not place on the hair, but on the skin!

When you have finished brushing and placing the absorbent cotton, you can place a Put on the hood or wrap the hair in foil and then hide it under a cap. You will be told exactly how long you need to leave the color on during the consultation.

As a rule of thumb: the longer, the more intensive the result.

Color the tips:

  • After 2.5 hours, I mix the second packet of powder with tea.
  • I take off the hood and the foil that I have wrapped around the tips.
  • The color is now distributed in the tips and what remains is added to the roots.
  • Now all my hair is covered with the color and goes under the hood for another 30 minutes.

Will the color really turn out the way I want it to?

Wash out color

After the application time, it gets really exciting. Now the hair will be rinsed out first and then I will Allow to dry naturally - without a hairdryer.

It's off to the shower for me now. I actually wanted to shower as a whole. But then I realize: Hey, you can't get through this T-shirt without completely staining it with paint.

Change of plan. Just the hair after all.

If you are coloring with natural plant hair dye, you should now only rinse with water - no shampoo!

The color is quite easy to Wash out well. I had real concerns with my long hair. But as the color under the cap doesn't dry out even after three hours, it's not a problem.

After about 3 minutes and 5 rinses, only clear water runs out of the hair. The mane is now clean from the roots to the tips.

I wrap my hair in a large, dark towel and leave it to dry a little. After about 15 minutes combs I them careful and then wrap it in a towel again.

Thats me Organic Test
Even after washing out my hair, I can see at the roots that the color has changed. After drying, the full extent becomes apparent: I love it!

Thats Me Organic: My result

The Special features of plant hair dyes* is that you can admire the correct result after 3 days: "The color is still reacting with the air during this time." So there may still be slight changes.

This is actually the case for me. Because directly after the Rinsing and drying the hair is even less intense than the next evening.

Although I didn't use any shampoo, conditioner or anything else, my hair is super soft and not dry or straw-like.

Important: The hair color is only really "finished" after 48 hours. It will therefore still change a little. Do not wash your hair during this time. Please only rinse after coloring!

How long do the plant hair dyes last in the hair?

If you Thats Me Organic experiences then it quickly becomes apparent: This is No tintingbut a permanent hair color. Many people think that vegetable hair dyes have poorer gray coverage, but if you look at the reviews, the opposite is probably the case.

I will add a few more lines here and report on how the color looks after one and two months.

"Most people dye their hair after 4 to 12 weeks to cover up gray hair," reports Diana in the podcast. I'm lucky - there's no gray hair on my head yet. 😊

FAQ - I asked myself these questions

I asked myself so many questions before dyeing. You probably feel the same way. I have collected the most important questions and answers here.

What does the color smell like?

The color is supplied as a powder. In my case, the powder was light green. The color smells neutral. As soon as you mix it with the tea, it smells like black tea. Incidentally, my hair smells the same all day after I wash out the color.

From the second day onwards, the fragrance has faded and they smell completely neutral again.

How does the color feel when dyeing?

I was a little worried that the paste would make my head itch when it was absorbed. But that wasn't the case at all. Nothing runs off my head either.

Because of my long mane, my head was quite heavy by the time I had finished applying the product to the ends. I was glad when I was allowed to wash it out. However, I didn't have any itching or anything similar for the entire 3 hours.

How difficult is it for the color to wash out after dyeing?

The hair dye is mixed with tea and then has roughly the consistency of yogurt or a mud pack. With my Thats Me Organic Test the paste was very easy to rinse out. This is probably due to the fact that it remains moist throughout under the hood.

How can I get the tea to exactly 50 degrees?

My kettle only knows: boil or cold. I therefore first measured out the amount of water. Then I put the tea bag in a bowl and let it steep. The water doesn't even have to boil for this - boiling water is perfectly sufficient.

Put the tea bag in and wait. I then checked the temperature regularly with the thermometer. In the meantime, I took care of the preparations: put out the towel, prepare the handkerchiefs, get the color powder ready, etc.

Of course, a normal clinical thermometer does not go up to 50° Celsius. You can use a thermometer for cooking or simply order one from the Thats Me Organic Shop.

Does the color adhere to the clothing?

I was careful not to spill on myself. Of course it happened. That's why I wore an old T-shirt for the photos and for dyeing. The color came out of the shirt without any problems when I washed it at 40°. The towel also came out clean again.

And even the beige tiled floor by the mirror and in the shower had been stained. I wiped it off directly with a damp cloth. No problems at all. You can't see any stains.

I have brown hair, can I dye it blonde?

No. Plant-based hair dyes can only ever dye the hair darker or remain the same shade. Plant-based hair dyes lack hydrogen peroxide, which ensures that the hair can be lightened to such an extreme extent. But that's a good thing, because hydrogen peroxide is also exactly what makes our hair broken, strawy, dry and permanently damaged.

Before dyeing with the plant hair dye, my hair was faded and dull. Afterwards, they have a vibrant, great color.

My conclusion

I can relate to the Many Thats Me Organic experiences only connect. It is not without reason that they are consistently positive. I am very happy with the result. Let's see how long the color lasts and how it will change. I'll definitely give you an update as soon as I know more.

The mixing of the paint, the dyeing itself and the washing out were not complicated at all. So even beginners can tackle the project without any problems. I received wonderful advice in the live chat.

What I really like is that the hair is still soft after the Coloring with the plant hair dye* very soft - and completely without care products. Normally, hairdressers put lots of stuff in your hair to make it velvety, soft and smooth. The mane falls very naturally and smells pleasantly of black tea on the first day 🙂 Perfect for a Sunday morning! 😄

As the plant hair dye is much gentler on the mane, I probably won't be going back to the hairdresser's chemical mace. Next time I try, I might be able to manage the coloring all by myself. And if not, then a wonderful joint project on Saturday evening is #couplegoals 😄

I hope you enjoy trying it out and would use the color myself again anytime. A clear thumbs up from me!
