What is shaving cream actually good for?

Quite simply, shaving foam softens the hair and lays like a protective film between the razor blade and the skin.

Thus, the blade glides over the skin without resistance and is not injured.

This is to prevent irritated and reddened skin. Also razor burn and ingrown hairs should be able to prevent.

You should completely avoid dry shaving. You're not doing your skin any good!

Tip: In the book, The Glow - Naturkosmetik selber machen, you will find many great instructions for DIY cosmetic projects. From creams, shampoos, scrubs, oils, you will find many step by step instructions with photos.

Why you should make shaving foam yourself

You can also buy cheap in the store, right? So why the work?

Industrial products contain many questionable additives. Starting from fragrances, preservatives to colorants.

This leads to itchy and reddened skin, especially for sensitive skin. Pimples appear and the skin is irritated. And this especially in sensitive areas such as the intimate zone or the armpits. This does not have to be.

Our DIY shaving foam is made from 100 percent natural ingredients and provides soft and supple skin.

You don't need to be a DIY pro to make your own shaving cream. You pour all the ingredients into a bottle and shake it. That's it. Sounds good, right? :)

You fill the shaving foam into a pump bottle. I used the bottle in which there used to be a foaming face wash lotion.

Before you apply the shaving cream right away for the first time, you need to know that you need to shake it before each use.

It may be that the ingredients separate. So: shake, pump and shave :)

How to use the DIY shaving foam correctly

There is no difference from normal shaving foam. Except that the DIY variant is a little more liquid.

  1. Moisten the skin very lightly.
  2. Pump the shaving cream onto your hand and apply it.
  3. And now shave. But please do not against the direction of hair growth!
  4. Rinse off the remaining shaving foam. Done!

By the way, shaving is gentlest when you shower or bathe beforehand. This opens the pores and the hair becomes soft.

After shaving, you should moisturize and disinfect the skin, otherwise shaving pimples and redness will form.

A solution to this problem comes from Australian Bodycare. The intimate balm with Tea tree oil* Disinfects and soothes the skin. The smell takes some getting used to at first, but is better after a while. Tea tree oil* smell better than getting pimples and ingrown hairs :)

You wonder why we have chosen these ingredients and not others? Then you've come to the right place. Let's do a little commodity science.

Castile soap for DIY shaving foam

You have never heard of Castile soap* heard? Neither had I before! :)

Castile soap* consists of 100% olive oil, water and lye. It is a vegan product that contains no artificial colors, fragrances or preservatives.

Often Castile soap* also known as olive oil soap. It can be used for DIY shampoos, shaving foam, toothpaste or for cleaning. In the household, it reliably removes dirt and grease.

Because it is so natural, it can be biodegraded and is considered particularly environmentally friendly.

Aloe vera gel

The gel of the aloe vera plant is popularly used home remedy for sunburns. Aloe vera cools and moisturizes the skin. As the name suggests, the consistency is like gel, which makes it particularly interesting for shaving foam.

The gel makes the foam a little firmer, which makes it easier to apply. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which is especially good for sensitive skin.

You do not have to buy the gel by the way you can Aloe vera gel* do it yourself if you have a plant at home.

Glycerin

You will find Glycerin* in soaps, creams, shampoos and pretty much every care product. It is considered one of the best moisturizers of all.

Glycerin* is an odorless and colorless liquid that looks like water at a quick glance. It soothes dry, cracked and itchy skin and makes it elastic and healthy.

Almond oil for shaving foam make yourself

Almond oil* is a pure natural product that your hair and skin will love. Reach for cold-pressed Almond oil*, so that the vitamins and minerals are preserved.

The oil contains a lot of unsaturated fatty acids and lays like a protective shield on the skin. The linoleic acid has an anti-inflammatory effect and can prevent skin irritations. And then we have vitamin E, which boosts the regeneration of the skin.

Tea tree oil

And finally we would have Tea tree oil*. It is used in face masks and creams for blemished skin. The reason for this is its disinfecting effect. And our skin desperately needs this after shaving.

The smell takes some getting used to. Therefore do not use too much Tea tree oil*.
