Summer is approaching in leaps and bounds. Therefore, clean-shaven legs are a must. But after shaving, dark legs remain on the legs. How can you get rid of strawberry legs and where do they even come from? Here comes the answer!

Freshly shaved, the legs feel mega velvety. You stroke them and the feeling is indescribably beautiful. But what is that? Why are there dark spots on the legs?

You know those pesky black spots after shaving? Even though you've just taken care of hair removal, your legs aren't flawless.

Dark spots on the skin stand out clearly. But why actually? Where do they come from and what can you do about them?

The Americans have the perfect name for the problem: Strawberry Legs.

After all, the small dots remind the seed of the red fruit. In strawberries, these dots do not interfere.

However, they are quite unsightly on the legs.

Especially when the legs are white. There the spots already shine from afar.

And all you're wondering is: how can I get rid of my strawberry legs? And where does the shaving shadow come from anyway?

How strawberry legs are formed

Have you also read somewhere that the dark spots are supposed to be clogged pores?

Then we can reassure you now. It has little to do with the pores.

Strawberry legs are very small stubble, in the skin. They are also called shaving shadows. Unfortunately, these are also visible directly after fresh shaving, because a small part of the hair remains under the skin.

It is often especially bad in women with very thick and dark leg hair in combination with light skin.

Dark spots on the legs are nothing more than the hair root, which is located under the top layer of skin. They shine through the thin light skin.

As a result, black spots are still there after shaving. Even a depilatory cream can not help.

Those who are blessed with little hair or light hair on the legs do not know this problem. However, most women have dark hair on the lower legs and struggle with this problem.

The best way how to get rid of strawberry legs

Especially noticeable and disturbing strawberry skin legs are, of course, very light skin.

Because you won't get to the root of the problem with either shaving or hair removal cream, the only depilatory methods that will help are those that remove the hair with the root.

This is best achieved by waxing, epilating or lasering.

Tip: It works wonderfully for me with the Braun Silk-épil epilator! It's worth snapping up. Right now you get it with lots of extras like an exfoliating brush or face brush.

These methods are more painful than shaving, but very effective. Whereas lasers are very expensive. However, if your skin is too sensitive, you should still use a wet razor.

How to get rid of strawberry legs after shaving

For whom waxing, epilating or lasering is not an option, they must resort to the razor.

With this approach, you can prevent or at least reduce dark spots on the legs when shaving:

1. use sharp blades

Before you reach for the razor, you should first take a closer look at it. It's best to buy a wet razor with 5 blades. The blades should be fresh and above all still sharp.

That is: change razor blades very often. Which unfortunately can go quite into the money.

But have you ever heard of a Straight razor heard?

If you choose a razor, you can at least avoid this disadvantage. The razor plane is a little more expensive to buy, but a new blade costs only 10 to 15 cents. Instead of changing the entire head as with a conventional razor, here you really only change the metal part of the blade.

This is easy on the wallet and the environment.

This also means that the blades are always much sharper than with a razor. You prevent skin irritations of all kinds.

If you are interested, I can give you the Shaving razor from WLDOHO* recommend. I use the razor myself and am very happy with it because razor bumps and itchy armpits occur much less frequently.

What I also like is that for every model sold, a tree is planted. WLDOHO is committed to protecting the environment and wants to help avoid plastic, which is always produced with a conventional razor.

By the way, you can choose from four different designs. From rose gold with sandalwood, to maple wood with gold, and also for those who like it classic black or white, there is something.

You have nothing to lose. If you are not completely convinced after 100 days, you can return your money. I love my razor and would not want to miss it!

2. shower or bath before hair removal.

If you want to get rid of your strawberry legs, make sure they don't appear in the first place.

Therefore, before shaving, bathe your legs in warm water for 5 to 10 minutes.

This softens the hairs and the skin. This allows hair to be removed much more effectively and gently. The pores open up and the hair can be cut off much further down.

Alternatively, you can put a towel in lukewarm water, wring it out and wrap your legs with it for a few minutes.

3. peeling against strawberry legs

After that it's time for peeling. It helps you get rid of your strawberry skin legs. Peelings remove dead skin cells. In fact, it's best to exfoliate your legs daily.

If the hairs can come to the surface, you can shave them off. If they remain ingrown, you can't reach them. The dark spots remain.

For peeling you can use a Peeling glove* or use an exfoliating cream. Preferably both.

Body scrubs with Tea tree oil* are particularly effective. The Tea tree oil* has a disinfectant effect and prevents red spots. You therefore disinfect the skin before you start shaving. This way you can be sure that your skin is already well prepared for shaving. Exfoliating prevents ingrown hairs from forming in the first place.

For peeling you can also use a Peeling glove* use. I personally use this glove from Amazon. It has particularly fine pores and therefore removes both large and small flakes of skin.

By the way, you can use a peeling simply make yourself with coffee grounds.

4. what is even better than shaving

Now your legs are free from all skin impurities. Now it's time to shave. First, spread shaving gel or shaving foam on your legs.

Then run the razor thoroughly over the skin. This is the only way to achieve a truly hair-free result.

However, if you have very sensitive skin, you must be careful not to shave too often over one spot. Do not shave against the direction of hair growth.

If you have very light skin and dark hair, even the closest shave will not help. Then you should think about permanent hair removal. This can be done either in a beauty salon or conveniently at home.

With an IPL device, the hair roots are sclerosed. The hair can therefore no longer grow back. Thus, the dark spots also remain permanently gone.

5. use a toner

What works on the face also works on the legs. After shaving, put a little toner (facial toner) on a cotton pad and gently run it over the skin.

With the toner, you remove the last remnants of dirt that get stuck in the pores and cause them to contract quickly.

Afterwards, use a moisturizer.

6. use moisturizer

After shaving, your skin needs moisture. So do not forget to nourish your legs with a rich lotion. This soothes the skin after shaving. However, wait at least 30 minutes before applying a cream.

Make sure that it is not greasy and clogs the pores. Because then typical shaving pimples can develop and the hairs begin to grow in.

With what you make a DIY scrub against black spots on the legs

Getting rid of strawberry legs is not that difficult. To avoid black spots after shaving, you need to exfoliate your skin beforehand. You can easily make a scrub for soft skin on your own.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons (36 g) Baking soda*
  • 4 tablespoons (50 g) cane sugar
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) rose water

Preparation:

Mix all the ingredients into a paste.

Gently apply this mixture to the skin in circular motions. Massage the scrub into the skin.

Then leave the mask to act for about 10 minutes. Finally, rinse well with lukewarm water. Use the peeling best daily to prevent black spots after shaving.

This way you can be sure that the hair will find its way out and you'll be sure to catch it the next time you shave.

Dark spots after shaving

Our conclusion

Strawberry legs can be really annoying. Especially if you have very fair skin and dark hair. The most effective way to combat dark spots on your legs is to exfoliate before every shave. Exfoliation removes cornification and dead skin cells from the top layer of skin.

So strawberry legs no longer have a chance. :)

Have fun and success trying it out.
