Do you fancy a slightly different version of the classic golden milk? Then you should try the variant with fresh oranges. Here you can find a delicious recipe for golden milk with orange juice!

The golden-colored drink is very healthy, but I couldn't really make friends with the milk version. It doesn't matter whether it's animal milk or a plant-based drink, and it doesn't matter whether it's hot or cold.

And then I discovered something that tastes really delicious: golden milk with orange juice instead of milk.

The drink contains all the healthy ingredients you'll find in the classic recipe. And even more. Because oranges contain a lot of vitamin C.

The great thing about this variant is that you can take the drink cold. It is super refreshing on hot summer days and a great vitamin kick after getting up.

But let's look at this in detail.

What is golden milk?

Golden milk is the rock star among trendy drinks. This golden-yellow, spicy-sweet drink really has it all.

But the recipe for golden milk is not all that new. It has long been prepared in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian art of healing, and is considered a healing, stimulating and cleansing drink.

The orange milk has been part of Indian cuisine for centuries.

The main ingredient is turmeric. The root of the turmeric plant contains up to 5 % essential oils and curcumin, a natural dye. That is why the golden milk has such a beautiful golden yellow color. Hence its name.

In Ayurvedic medicine, turmeric is considered one of the "hot spices" that is said to have a cleansing and invigorating effect.

However, since golden milk is a typical Ayurvedic spice blend made from high-quality ingredients, it naturally contains even more goodness.

In addition to turmeric root, plant milk is added to the classic golden milk, Cinnamon*ginger, black pepper and Coconut oil* inside.

These ingredients ensure that the golden milk has many more beneficial properties.

Why is golden milk healthy?

Golden milk has a strong anti-inflammatory effect and is said to protect against diseases of the joints. It is even said to alleviate chronic inflammation such as osteoarthritis.

Turmeric milk is also said to strengthen the immune system and have an antioxidant effect. This can prevent the premature aging of the skin.

In addition, the golden milk stimulates liver function and helps the body in digestion and detoxification. It also has a long-term physical and mental effect. It protects against Alzheimer's disease and is a good solution for sleep disorders.

What ingredients do I need for golden milk with orange juice?

In the end, the variation is based on the classic recipe. Except for the change of milk, everything is the same. Nevertheless, I would like to say a few words about the individual ingredients before we get straight to the recipe.

Orange juice

Orange juice is healthiest when you squeeze it fresh. The variants from the supermarket can also be seen, but they are highly heated and thus lose some of the vitamins. To compensate for this, many juices are added back with vitamins. The DIY variant is healthier and more natural.

With two to three fresh oranges, you can cover your daily vitamin C requirements. This is important for an intact immune system, strong bones and connective tissue. You will also find a lot of magnesium and calcium in citrus fruits.

Turmeric

There are many recipes for golden milk - with orange juice, with milk, with oat drink and so on. But what they all have in common is a good portion of turmeric. And for a good reason: Because Turmeric is incredibly healthy and good for our immune system.

The active ingredient curcumin is anti-inflammatory and is therefore used to prevent very many diseases. The yellow powder has an antioxidant effect and acts against free radicals that damage our cells. It is also said to significantly reduce the risk of brain diseases.

Ginger

The tuber not only gives the drink a slightly spicy note, but also strengthens our immune system in many different ways. The healthiest ingredient is gingerol, which is also responsible for the taste. Besides vitamin C, you'll also find magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, sodium and phosphorus.

Therefore, ginger should not be missing in any golden milk - whether with orange juice or milk.

If you like, you can use ginger powder. More intense flavor and more healthy ingredients you will find in the fresh tuber.

Ceylon cinnamon, cardamom and pepper

A pinch Cinnamon* must be added to the golden yellow drink. Here you should make sure that you add Ceylon Cinnamon* It may be a little more expensive, but it is also healthier. Above all, you will find a lot of eugenol in the powder. It is said to have cell-protecting properties.

Cinnamon* has a very good overall effect on our body. It is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial. It is also said to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Also a little Cardamom* you are welcome to add to your drink. Its essential oils soothe the gastrointestinal tract, relieve cramps, help against flatulence and stimulate digestion.

You should add freshly ground pepper to the golden milk. It provides a little more spiciness and supports digestion.

Coconut oil and honey

When you prepare golden milk with orange juice, provides Coconut oil* for an exotic taste and a little creaminess. You can sweeten the juice with a little honey if it is too sour. Honey is considered very healthy if it is not heated. It can unfold its full power in a golden-colored drink. If you like, you can use Coconut oil* and honey.

Have you set up all the ingredients? Then you can start mixing the drink.

How to prepare golden milk with orange juice

Are you ready? Then you can start right away. If you've never made golden milk yourself, here's a detailed tutorial. If you've made one before and are just looking for recipe inspiration, then you'll find a short version at the end of the post.

Here comes the long version with exact step-by-step instructions. The recipe is enough for one glass.

Ingredients

  • 3-8 oranges
  • 1 cm ginger
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 TSP Cinnamon*
  • 1/8 TSP Cardamom*
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • Optional: honey and Coconut oil*

Also: Blender* or food processor, tall blender jug, optional: garlic press

1. squeeze oranges

3-8 oranges is a very inaccurate figure. However, it's hard to pin down the exact amount of juice in fruit. In total, you should come to 200-250 ml of orange juice. Sometimes two oranges are enough for this.

Cut the oranges in half and squeeze them. The fresher you prepare the orange juice, the healthier the drink will be. If you like, you can strain the juice through a sieve to remove the pulp.

Put the juice in a tall container so we can mix it with the other ingredients right away.

You can use a food processor or a Blender* work. I personally prefer the Blender*because it is less work to wash up.

Tip: If you want to drink the golden milk as a refreshment, put the oranges in the refrigerator for an hour beforehand.

2. ginger

Peel about 1 cm of the fresh ginger bulb. The best way to do this is to use a teaspoon and simply scrape off the peel.

Put the ginger into a garlic press and squeeze the juice out of the bulb. If you use a food processor, you can save this step.

The juice of the ginger is now added to the orange juice.

Tip: If you like, you can also mix ginger powder for the orange juice for the golden milk. For this then suffices in about 1/2 tsp.

3. golden milk season

Add turmeric, cinnamon, Cardamom* and pepper to the orange juice.

Puree the ingredients on the highest setting. This not only mixes the ingredients, the juice also gets a nice froth.

4. add optional ingredients

Who wants can now still honey and Coconut oil* to the mixture. You should heat these two ingredients briefly in the microwave so that they liquefy and mix better with the remaining ingredients.

Then puree the juice again well.

Pour the golden milk with orange juice into a glass and drink it right away. If you want to drink it later, do not forget to mix the ingredients again with a spoon.

Golden Milk Orange

Can you drink the golden milk in the evening?

You don't have to drink the whole drink now. If you want, you can drink golden milk in the evening before going to bed. The ingredients all have a calming effect and are not stimulating.

However, many have the problem that they do not tolerate orange juice and fresh fruit so well directly before bedtime. Here, the variant with milk would clearly be more digestible.

Can you drink Golden Milk every day?

The stimulating spices serve to boost metabolism and the orange provides a kick of vitamin C. Because golden milk contains no sugar or other unhealthy ingredients, you can drink it daily in normal amounts. A glass of 150 to 200 milliliters per day is perfectly fine.

However, pay attention to how your stomach reacts to fresh orange juice. Some stomachs are very sensitive to it and therefore should not be supplied with it daily.

And here, as promised, the short version of the recipe.
