Wondering if a straight razor experience is worth it? I say yes! I have tested the plane for you and tell you everything you need to know.

If you're a bit into zero waste, you're bombarded with ads on Instagram for products you've never heard of. At least that's how I've been feeling lately.

Brand new in my feed: The razor for women. A little curious make me such things yes always.

So I thought: Why not just try it out and share my razor experience with you here.

I am sure you are just as curious and have quite a few questions. I have the WLDOHO razor plane* in the test and tell you everything you're sure to be interested in.

What is a razor plane?

A razor plane is something like the grandfather of today's disposable wet razors. Before there were razors, but only good barbers knew how to use them. Often there were cuts during self-attempts.

In 1874, the time had come - the razor was born. It was cheaper, more effective and safer than razors.

Then, when everything developed in the direction of disposable products, the plane was not spared. He was replaced by disposable razors and blades. Nice and slowly he comes back and that pleases many eco-fans.

Finally less plastic waste you think and consider getting a razor plane? Then this post is for you! I tell you here from my razor experience and tell you what a plane is really good.

And whether a razor is suitable for women or better left in men's hands.

Why I would like to have my own razor experience

Yes, why use it at all? You can also use a disposable razor or a system razor where you change the head. Yes, you can.

But if you are a little busy with wanting to live more environmentally friendly, then it quickly becomes clear: such a conventional razor creates quite a lot of waste. To dispose of the blade head with all the plastic around it in the trash every time is actually insane.

Because actually only the dull blade would have to be replaced. For this reason, razors are once again gaining a permanent place in bathrooms.

Due to the sharper blades shaving pimples should occur less frequently. Wonderful, because about this problem I could write a whole book.

Shaving with razor plane experience

And financially, a slicer is also worth it. The purchase of the device itself is a little more expensive, but you can buy the blades between 10 and 18 cents each. You really can't say that about conventional razor blades.

With a normal razor, the purchase is cheap, but the razor blades are very expensive. So you pay for a single blade quickly times 5 euros. After 3-4x use it ends up in the trash. Blades from other brands of course do not fit on the razor.

By buying a razor plane, you support many small businesses that specialize in it. For example, many start-ups focus on additional environmental protection - if you buy a Shaving razor from WLDOHO*, one tree is planted per sale.

Why a razor is made for women

Admittedly, a planer sounds more like a tool. Strictly speaking, it is. But you should definitely give it a try and you won't regret it. At WLDOHO you can buy razors that do not look so masculine.

How about this plane in rose gold? If you don't like it, you can choose from another 3 colors.

I can give you the Shaving razor from WLDOHO* recommend. I use the razor myself and am very happy with it because razor bumps and itchy armpits occur much less frequently.

What I also like is that for every model sold, a tree is planted. WLDOHO is committed to protecting the environment and wants to help avoid plastic, which is always produced with a conventional razor.

What speaks for the razor test

You're probably wondering what the advantages and disadvantages of such a device are. With new acquisitions, I tend to compare the and can then decide faster. Of course, I did the same with the planer.

Straight razor advantages

  • Long life - The plane is virtually indestructible and if it does break, you can exchange it for free with many companies.
  • Cost-effective - if you use it regularly, it will quickly pay off financially. Especially when buying new blades, you will notice that you can save a lot.
  • Thorough shave - The blades are very sharp, so you only need to run very gently over the skin and are guaranteed to catch every little hair.
  • Less shaving pimples - much less. This is due to the sharpness of the blades.
  • Environmentally friendly - there is hardly any waste. Many models are offered in ecological packaging. The blades are recyclable because they are made of stainless steel.
  • Easy to clean - the blades can not be clogged with hair.
  • Suitable for all body parts - with a little practice you can shave everywhere - even in the genital area. A razor plane is suitable for both women and men. And also for all who have sensitive and delicate skin.
  • Blades for all models - you can use all razor blades of any brand on your plane. You are not bound to a particular manufacturer.

Straight razor disadvantages

But of course there is no advantage without a disadvantage. However, in my opinion, they are really very limited

  • The purchase price - is often cited as the biggest drawback. Depending on the brand, there are very different prices. From 25 to 100 euros, everything is there. I have the WLDOHO razor plane*, which costs 38 euros including 5 blades, which I honestly don't find very expensive.
  • The availability - The razor blades for the razor plane are not available everywhere. In the drugstore I have not seen any. But you can order them online and usually in packs of 100. So you get along forever long.
  • Practice is needed - The plane is a little different in the hand than a normal razor. For the first two attempts, you should therefore take your time so as not to cut yourself.

My razor experience

There it is now, the plane. He is waiting to free my legs from stubble. I have a little respect for the part. Alone with the first lifting of the device is clear, that will be a little unaccustomed. The device is twice as heavy as my normal razor.

I have read in other razor experiences that some struggle at first and have cut. But I'm optimistic that I'll get it right. The knees I just leave out until I get more comfortable with it.

Unlike a normal razor, the head of the razor plane is rigid and immobile. Swinging heads, protective gel pads and Co. you look in vain.

I apply shaving oil to my legs, wash my hands and put on the plane.

There should be an angle of about 30 degrees between the skin and the blade. So you must not start too steeply. With a little practice, however, this hand movement should be quickly internalized.

I still have to really concentrate.

Important: Do not press the razor head too hard. Let it glide over the skin almost without pressure. By pressing you hardly increase the shaving result. Rather, it only increases the risk that you cut yourself.

Because the device itself is comparatively heavy, you don't need any pressure. It generates exactly the right amount of pressure itself.

The legs actually feel smoother than after shaving with a regular razor.

What I can say after prolonged use

This year was the year of ingrown hairs for me. On the legs especially along the shins were particularly many. I use the plane now for 2 months 2-3x per week and have actually noticed that the ingrown hairs became less.

This also means hardly any shaving pimples, itchy stubble or razor burn.

As soon as I notice that the hair is no longer cut immediately, but pulls when shaving, I change the blade. This is necessary about every 3 weeks. You notice yourself very quickly when it is so far.

What to know about the razor in the intimate area

Can you use the razor plane in the intimate area? This is probably the most important question of all. Because especially in the bikini area razor pimples occur particularly often and disturb even more than on the legs.

Testimonials about razor and intimate area can hardly be found. Since probably no one wants to report on it. This is just mega exciting. So I'll just do that now :).

The skin in the intimate area is particularly sensitive and thin. Most manufacturers advise against using a razor in the intimate area. But I can only partially agree.

For the mons veneris there is absolutely no problem. Those who are very brave also dare to do the labia. Less courageous remove only the hair in the bikini area with the plane.

It is important that you work calmly and precisely. From a quick shave in the shower I advise quite clearly! Just as from a shave of the labia. A steady hand and a lot of practice let you get better every time.

Personally, I started with the legs, when I was pretty sure, I moved on to the armpits and then to the genital area. I recommend you do the same.

Use shaving gel or shaving foam and never shave dry. It does not work quite so well the first time because I cut myself superficially. But that happens to me with the normal razor also often. Therefore I take a Shaving gel with tea tree oil*. This disinfects during application and also during shaving.

It is important that you clean the skin well afterwards and apply an after shave. If you have not yet found the right product for you, I can recommend the After Shaving Balm from Australian Bodycare* recommend. It disinfects the skin and prevents razor bumps and redness.

Abstract: You should be careful and take your time if you want to depilate the intimate area with the razor. It is possible and works quite well, especially in the bikini area.

My conclusion

I hope my razor experience has answered your questions. All I can say is that it's really worth it. If you're not so brave, then on the legs. But the result is much smoother than with a conventional razor. The blades are sharp longer - for whatever reason. And you do the environment and your wallet a favor.

Just give it a try! You will love it!
