Why you should make power bars yourself

Homemade granola bars are optimal when the little hunger comes. They provide healthy calories on stressful or very sporty days.

Instead of chocolate, cookies or other sweet stuff, your body gets a lot of minerals and vitamins with the bars. This keeps you full for a long time and fills your nutrient chambers.

But you could just buy a bar, right? Yes, you could. But homemade tastes even better.

You can decide for yourself which ingredients end up in the recipe. If you don't like raisins, you can easily substitute them. If you're allergic to a particular nut, simply omit it and use a different one.

You can simply omit household sugar and use natural sugar sources such as honey or dates. You can also omit flavorings and preservatives when making your own power bars.

These power bars are

  • lactose free
  • free from table sugar
  • easy to prepare
  • mega tasty
  • a fiber bomb
  • also well suited for cooking beginners

Very important: For this recipe you need a powerful food processor*. An ordinary hand blender will probably overheat because the dried fruit is very sticky and tough.

But you'll also need to assist the food processor by soaking the dried fruit before you get started.

And how long are the bars durable? With me not long, because I eat them within 2-3 days :). But theoretically you can eat them for 5-6 days after production. It's just important that you store them in the fridge.

If you see after making them that you'll never make it, freeze the power bars one at a time. When they are frozen through, you can put them together in a tupperware box and prevent them from sticking together.

You can now keep the energy bars frozen for 4-5 months.

How you can refine the power bar recipe

Not quite convinced of the recipe? No problem, tastes are just different. Therefore, here comes a list of ingredients that you can also add to the bars.

It is important that the total amount remains the same. If you replace the almond paste, then you must use the same amount of peanut butter. This also applies to the dried fruits and nuts.

What you can't leave out are the dates. On the one hand they provide the sweetness and on the other hand they make the ingredients stick together. The nuts bring energy to the snack and lots of healthy fats and protein.
