How to dress up your watermelon feta salad with arugula

You are not a big fan of arugula or would like to mix other ingredients into the salad? Here are a few tips and inspirations to make your watermelon feta salad even more delicious.

Nuts, seeds, kernels - fry nuts without oil and sprinkle them over the salad. Especially tasty: cashew, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, walnuts.

Herbs - Instead of arugula, or even in addition, you can use basil. Mint also goes wonderfully with the sweet melon. Thyme - especially lemon thyme makes the recipe really delicious.

Acid - a good salad needs acid. If you don't have balsamic at hand, you can simply use lemon juice.

Cucumber - pieces of cucumber also often end up in melon salad. To do this, simply peel a cucumber and dice it to the same size as the melon.

Red onion pieces - If you like it a little spicier, take a red onion. Important: Cut very thin slices so that it is not too dominant.

How long the shelf life of the feta watermelon salad

Since melons contain a lot of water and therefore get mushy quite quickly, it's best if you eat the salad the same day.

You can prepare it in the morning and eat it at lunch. In the evening, however, it will no longer be very good.

It's also important that you refrigerate it. This will allow you to keep it a little longer in a tupperware box.

Watermelon recipe with feta

If you want to prepare the salad for later, it is worth separating the ingredients. You can mix melon and feta.

However, you should stir in vinegar, arugula and herbs just before eating.

Otherwise, the melon will soak up vinegar and the arugula won't get any of it or it will collapse.

In short: It tastes best when it's fresh.

Our conclusion

A watermelon feta salad with balsamic vinegar and arugula is quickly prepared. It tastes mega delicious fruity and is perfect for hot days. You can refine it according to your mood and thus always create a new creation.

Enjoy it!
