A little ingredient knowledge for the DIY cream

If you want to make hand cream yourself, you should always make sure that the ingredients are of high organic quality.

Gentle processing and high-quality raw materials not only guarantee skin compatibility, but also ensure that the valuable ingredients are not lost.

Make your own hand cream for dry fingers

Each component of our homemade hand cream serves a purpose. Below we present you the ingredients and their effects in a little more detail.

Shea butter in DIY hand cream

Shea butter* is obtained from the fruit of the shea tree, which grows in Africa.

It is particularly rich in vitamins and cell-regenerating oleic acids. This makes Shea butter* makes the skin particularly soft and supple.

It promotes blood circulation in your skin and thus improves your skin texture. It also reduces wrinkles and is therefore a 100% natural anti-aging agent.

Cocoa butter for dry hands

Cocoa butter* is not only an important ingredient for delicious chocolate, but also provides our skin with valuable moisture.

It is obtained from the roasted beans of the cocoa plant. Cocoa butter* melts very easily at body temperature, making the cream easy to spread.

Cocoa butter* leaves a velvety feeling and is quickly absorbed by the skin. It contains a variety of healthy oleic acids.

Our Tip: Cocoa butter* Buy in larger quantities, it's cheaper. It will keep in the fridge for over half a year.

Make your own hand cream with beeswax

Honey bees build with the Beeswax* their combs, in which they store honey and raise their larvae.

Beeswax* In natural cosmetics, it is mainly used to mix the other ingredients together.

But it also protects our skin and forms a kind of protective film. Thus, the nutrients of the other cream ingredients are, so to speak, enclosed in your skin, where they can develop their effect.

For the creams you can use yellow wax or white wax. Beeswaxuse *. The lighter the wax, the better its quality.

I took yellow wax because it gives the hand cream a little color.

As a vegan alternative to Beeswax* Carnauba or berry wax can be used.

Almond oil for homemade cream

Almond oil* is a real care booster. It is rich in valuable ingredients such as linoleic acid and vitamins. The healthy fatty acids soothe your skin.

In addition, linoleic acid is a natural UV protector. Vitamin A and E support cell renewal and vitamin D supports our immune system.

The minerals contained, such as calcium, have a firming effect and smooth your skin texture. Almond oil* is also particularly kind to the skin.

It is obtained by crushing the ripe almonds and then cold pressing them several times. This process preserves the ingredients.

Our tip: If you Almond oil*, you can also use it for massage oils.

Essential oils for fragrance when making hand cream yourself

The healing properties of essential oils have been known for thousands of years. Their pleasant scent can both relieve symptoms of illness and increase well-being.

Thus, lavender has a calming and relaxing effect, while the scent of citrus has an invigorating effect on us.

Essential oils can also be mixed - experiment a bit and find your personal scent.

Since essential oils are highly concentrated, you should always use them sparingly - a few drops are enough. Too much can cause skin irritation, so you should never use more than 6 drops of oil.

What are the best base oils to make your own hand cream

Making your own hand cream is no trick. If our recipe has whetted your appetite, you can try different variations.

Some oils are more suitable for body care than others. That's why we want to introduce you to some particularly nourishing oils below.

So feel free to experiment a bit to make the perfect cream for your skin's needs yourself.

What is a base oil anyway?

Base oils are also called carrier oils. They form the basis for massage oil, hand cream and other beauty products and natural cosmetics.

Base oils have little odor or taste. They are quickly absorbed into the skin, not very greasy and seal the skin.

If you want to make cream yourself, you can also mix different base oils.

Carrier oils for DIY hand lotion

As a basis for natural cosmetics you should preferably use sesame, jojoba or Apricot kernel oil* to fall back on.

These oils have a high fat content and thus form the perfect base for making hand cream.

Castor oil in homemade cream

All 3 oils can be super combined with castor oil. Castor oil has a strong water repellent effect and makes your skin elastic, because it is deeply absorbed.

It also gives your skin a beautiful, healthy glow. It is obtained from the seeds of the miracle tree, a tropical plant.

For dry skin

For 'sensitives' with very dry, cracked skin or even neurodermatitis, you should make a hand cream that contains olive or Avocado oil includes.

These oils are very rich, but also contain a lot of fat. If you want to avoid a greasy film at all costs, it is best to rely on Almond oil*, as we have done in our recipe. It's not quite as rich, but not as greasy either.

For an extra portion of care

Coconut and bamboo oils have a pleasantly creamy and light texture. They contain many nutrients for your skin, but do not lie on and leave no unpleasant greasy film. Especially bamboo oil, combined with Jojoba oil* as a base, for a great, creamy mixture.

Our homemade hand cream, unlike many hand creams in stores, is not water-based.

In order for it to take full effect, you should apply the cream after washing your hands. This allows the nourishing fats and oils to penetrate deep into the skin and provide optimal care.

The finished hand cream will keep for about 6 months. Like all cosmetics, you should store your homemade hand cream in a dry, cool place, preferably protected from light.

A little tip: Label your creams so you know not only what's in them, but also how long they'll keep - and they look pretty, too.
