Peach grill as a barbecue dessert healthy

Grilled peaches dessert from the grill

Grilling peaches is very easy and super tasty. You only need 3 ingredients. And your guests are guaranteed to be thrilled. Especially those with a sweet tooth love grilled peaches.

Let's take a look at the ingredients. I'll tell you exactly what to look for. You should know exactly what you're eating.

The best peaches for grilling

If you want the dessert to be really delicious, you have to be precise in your choice of peaches. I like to buy at the farmer's market, the fruits just taste more aromatic here. In the supermarket you can usually find 1 kg of the fruits packed in plastic. However, they are usually not ripe and tasteless.

If the peaches give slightly when squeezed between thumb and forefinger, they are optimal for the grill.

Ripe fruits become particularly juicy and sweet due to the heat. Unripe fruits remain harder and taste sourish.

Yogurt for the peach halves

Normally, ice cream is served when grilling peaches. But I go for the healthy option and serve the peach halves with Greek yogurt.

Why not regular yogurt you may ask. Well, it's quite simple.

Classic yogurts are too runny. If you then combine it with lukewarm peaches, the yogurt simply runs away. This looks anything but delicious. Quite disgusting, in fact, if I'm honest.

Greek yogurt is more suitable. It is creamier and thicker, so optimal for any dessert from the grill. However, if the peaches are too hot, of course, this yogurt also becomes liquid.

Peaches grilled directly from the grill taste especially delicious. But let the halves cool briefly. So the yogurt does not run off and the flavor of the peaches comes out even better.

Honey for the barbecue dessert

The crowning touch is honey. It brings an additional slightly sweet note to the peaches. It also makes a visual impact, of course.

Who would like, can now still a little Cinnamon* on the peach halves.

And best of all, this is probably the easiest grilled dessert in the world. You don't have to be a grill pro or reach into the bag of tricks.

If you like to grill meatless. the book Vegetarian Grilling: Vegetables rock recommend*. It was written by a professional grill master. From grilled camembert with apricots to halloumi with grapes, capers and nuts, there is something for every taste.

The dishes are fancy and creative, but still in such a way that you can easily replicate them. Even as a grill novice. One of my favorites in the book are stuffed mushrooms with mozzarella and parmesan.

Of course, there are also some sweet desserts like watermelon or peaches.

This dessert from the grill is

  • sweet and juicy,
  • packed with vitamins,
  • gluten-free and lactose-free - if you take lactose-free yogurt,
  • suitable for vegetarians,
  • made for vegans, if you replace the honey with maple syrup,

Peaches from the grill

With what recipe peaches succeed on the grill

Never grilled peaches or put fruit on the grill before? No problem. Here comes a detailed tutorial on how to do it. If you've done this before and are just looking for some recipe inspiration, you'll find a short version at the end of the post.

Here comes the long version with detailed step-by-step instructions. The recipe is enough for two people.

I've picked out some of the important ingredients you'll need for the recipe. Organic honey* and Cinnamon* can be found on Amazon.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe peaches
  • 100 g Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 pinch Cinnamon* (if you like)

1. prepare the peaches

Wash the peaches thoroughly. Do the pressure test again with thumb and forefinger to see if they are really ripe and sweet.

Now cut the peaches in half. Use a very sharp knife to cut them and not crush them.

Hold one half in one hand. Gently twist the other half to release it from the core.

Remove the core of the second half with your fingers. This can sometimes be quite difficult, maybe you can loosen the core with the knife.

If the peaches are really ripe, it's quite easy. If you are really annoyed right now, you can cut the peach halves in half again. You then have two quarters, these can no longer be filled with yogurt, but dipping is always possible.

2. grill the peach

Now it's off to the grill. Depending on how sticky your grate is, you can coat it with a little oil beforehand.

Place the halves cut-side down directly on the grate if you want to get a nice pattern. You can also put them in an aluminum tray or on a special vegetable tray.

However, with the aluminum tray and the vegetable tray, not as much heat comes through. So the peach will not be so sweet.

For me, the halves therefore simply go directly onto the grate.

3. turn peaches on the grill

I fry the peaches on both sides. But on the cut surface much longer. Exactly how long depends on the temperature of the coal. But it is not more than 2 to 3 minutes.

Using grilling tongs, turn the peaches over so that the cut side is facing you.

And off with it on a plate.

4. arrange the grill dessert

Now the peaches need to cool a bit. Usually 5 minutes are enough for this. Now they should be about lukewarm and really juicy. While you are waiting for them to cool down, you can mix the yogurt with honey.

Now fill the halves with the honey-yogurt mixture. If you like, you can still add a little Cinnamon* sprinkle over it.

Ready!

Here, as promised, is the quick recipe guide for those who have already grilled a fruit or two.

By the way, mint goes quite well with it. A fruity strawberry iced tea can bring out the flavor even more when grilling peaches.

Why grilled peaches are the perfect finish? Because they contain a lot of water and are therefore not heavy on the stomach. Peaches are low in calories and yet pleasantly sweet.

And besides, after a long barbecue, no one feels like preparing an elaborate dessert. You can cut the peaches in half before the party starts and put them in a Tupperware box. Just put a lid on it and close it tightly. You are already prepared for the hungry crowd. :)
