Why homemade barbecue sauces?

As a true grill fan, I can't wait to get the grill out of the basement and get it started. Besides crisp salads, homemade barbecue sauces are my favorite.

The ready-made dips from the supermarket just do not taste good. They are often very sweet, tasteless and the herb sauce has never seen real herbs.

This speaks for making barbecue sauces recipes yourself

  • Fresh ingredients
  • No preservatives
  • No flavor enhancers
  • Inside is what you like
  • No sugar

When I started my own barbecue sauce recipes a few years ago, I didn't think how well they would be received. My guests are more excited about the sauces than my dessert. 😁

The perfect finishing touch to grilled dishes

True barbecue fans like me swear by DIY barbecue dips with ingredients like yogurt, sour cream, mustard, chili, onion, herbs, garlic.

What is the shelf life of homemade sauces?

Of course, you can't compare fresh and homemade barbecue sauces with ready-made ones. Sauces from the store last forever. You know what that means, right? They're full of preservatives and sugar, too. No thanks.

It is best to prepare homemade sauce on the day of the barbecue. 2-3 hours before is ideal, so that the ingredients can infuse well. And this is best done in the refrigerator.

Once the dips are ready, I make sure to eat them within 24 hours. But usually they do not last more than a few hours :)

If you like to grill meatless. the book Vegetarian Grilling: Vegetables rock recommend*. It was written by a professional grill master. From grilled camembert with apricots to halloumi with grapes, capers and nuts, there is something for every taste.

The dishes are fancy and creative, but still in such a way that you can easily replicate them. Even as a grill novice. One of my favorites in the book are stuffed mushrooms with mozzarella and parmesan.

Of course, there are also some sweet desserts like this grilled watermelon in the cookbook.
