Collect autumn fruits

Mushrooms can be found in the woods, but there are also a variety of other fall fruits that can be harvested. Gathering various fall fruits is another popular fall activity. Rose hips, hazelnuts, walnuts, sloes, chestnuts and beechnuts are just a few examples.

Collect mushrooms

Mushrooms are very popular in the autumn and winter months. So it's time to leave the apartment and go to the forest. Stock up for long winter days. Mushrooms are excellent to dry or freeze.

Important: If you want to eat the mushrooms you find, you must be well acquainted with them or take an expert with you.

Geo-Caching

If you enjoyed treasure hunting as a kid, you should try the modern version of it. In geo-caching, you use GPS coordinates and clues to find a small treasure.

The caches can be quite hidden and take you to many places you don't know. Look forward to solving puzzles and then signing up on a list to show others that you have found the treasure.

Night hike

A night hike is always a unique experience, whether alone, with friends or family. The advantage in autumn: dusk sets in quickly, so you don't have to leave home too late to explore the forest and meadows after dark.

You should definitely take flashlights with you. They will not only ensure your safety, but also create a unique atmosphere.

Fly a kite

In autumn, when the wind picks up, it's a fantastic time to go out into nature and fly colorful kites. This is one of the most popular autumn activities for children. But we adults get to enjoy it, too. You can also make your own kite beforehand.

Many people feel more connected with nature in autumn. It is a wonderful opportunity to go to a wildlife park and watch deer or wild boars. Both children and adults can then still learn interesting information.

What to do in autumn in your own garden?

You have your own garden and wonder what you need to do now in the fall? There is a lot that is waiting to be done. But also fun things are waiting in your autumn garden.

Prepare the plants for winter

You can pamper your plants a little before it goes into winter dormancy. If you have a garden, then it's time to fertilize the soil.

It doesn't matter whether you're growing vegetables or tending flowers. In the garden, you start by digging up the soil and adding nutrients. Potted plants are now cut back and fertilized before going into the winter quarters.

Harvest fruits and vegetables

Anyone who has apple trees knows that every year they produce an abundance of fruit. In order not to lose all the apples on the ground, now is the time to collect them, wash them and let them dry completely before storing them.

This also applies to beets, pumpkins and potatoes. Many of these vegetables can be boiled down wonderfully in the pot.

Carving pumpkins

Since we were on the subject of pumpkins: They can of course be carved quite wonderfully and used as decoration.

Pumpkins are a beautiful addition to your home this fall, and not just for Halloween. You can experiment with a classic scary face or other motifs. How about a carved fox or squirrel? After that, just stick a tea light in the pumpkin and put it outside.

Make campfire

When the night is cold and dark early, a bonfire warms and brings family and friends together. Build a fire pit in your backyard or get a fire basket for the campfire. This can be accompanied by grilling marshmallows on sticks or baking stick bread. If someone has unpacked a guitar, the autumnal campfire romance is perfect.

Build bird house

When the weather gets colder, birds have a hard time finding food. To help them survive the winter, you can build, fill, and place a birdhouse or feeder. Alternatively, you can buy accessories at the hardware store or build birdhouses yourself, which you only need to paint.

Or you make for tit dumplings yourself, you can hang them outside even without a birdhouse.

Preserving

Once you've discovered canning, you don't have to worry about fall activities. With canning, you can preserve food indefinitely. So how about a boiled pumpkin soup, red cabbage or vegetable sauces?

The big advantage: The food can be stored forever and you can simply open a jar and heat it up during the stressful Christmas season. The healthy fast food is ready.

How you can boil down in the crock pot and what it even is, you can read here.
