Orthogun 3.0 Experience

What distinguishes the OrthoGun 3.0 from a conventional massage gun?

Unlike many classic devices on the market, the OrthoGun 3.0 has already been able to convince some in the test. The new model from Orthomechanik relies on sophisticated technology.

These are the features of the new OrthoGun:

  • Brushless motor with 160 watts
  • Low noise level due to UltraSilent technology
  • 3350 mAh battery with 6 hours runtime
  • Lightweight design with just 770 grams
  • Massage depth of 11 millimeters
  • 5 massage programs with up to 3,200 strokes per minute

The gun has five customizable Massage levels as well as a very simple operation. Due to the built-in Automatic switch-off the massage gun switches itself off after 10 minutes, which protects against too intensive and prolonged use and protects the battery.

In total, you will find 7 interchangeable attachments in the scope of delivery. The special feature of the OrthoGun 3.0 are two metal-coated attachments - these can be used with massage oil, which is particularly pleasant for tension.

The first impression

I open the box and the packaging. So there it is in front of me: the brand new model from Orthomechanik. I take it in my hand and quickly notice how light it is. For its size, it is by far one of the lightest on the market, promises the manufacturer.

At just 770 grams, the new generation of the pistol is lighter than the previous version. And this one was already anything but heavy.

You can tell that it is well-built and made of high-quality material. Overall, it looks like it was cast from one piece and anything but cheap.

Massage Gun Experience Report

Haptics & Optics

The OrthoGun 3.0 massage gun fits very well in my hand. It is a bit big for my small hands, but I can live with that. The handle itself is very long, which is handy when you want to massage your neck and back. It's easy to use whether you're right or left handed.

Overall, the design is kept rather simple - the focus is on what is really important: the performance.

The OrthoGun 3.0 in the first test

Now that we have clarified all the important key data, the massage gun can be used on the skin for the first time. How will it feel? I'm anything but a muscle mountain and am therefore particularly excited.

I take the gun in my right hand, for starters I leave the round massage head on as an attachment. I can change the speed level with my thumb. Level 1 is enough for me for the time being. The operation is very intuitive, you do not need a manual.

Even in the low setting, the gun manages a massage depth (amplitude) of 11 millimeters.

I put the gun on my thigh and the muscles begin to vibrate. By slowly going up and down, I want to soften my hardened muscles and treat myself to a massage from the calf up to the buttocks.

After the first round, switch from the first to the second program - this works quite well during the massage, because I only have to make a small movement with my thumb.

Level 4 and 5 are much too intense for me personally, even on the thighs I have the feeling to feel the vibrations up to the stomach. However, this may also be due to the fact that I do not have acute tension in the thighs right now.

The shocks of the gun feel very pleasant and not painful on the skin. After the massage, my skin is slightly red and feels quite warm. This will probably be the promised blood circulation, which is thus promoted.

However, you should not overdo it with it, under certain circumstances a Massage gun also be dangerous.

In fact, the device turns off after 10 minutes of continuous operation.

The battery

I test the massager for 4 days in a row and don't have to recharge the battery once. If you use it regularly, one charge per week should be enough - OrthoMechanik promises a runtime of 3 to 6 hours after all.

Of course, the more intensive the massage program, the faster the battery will run down.

Is the device loud?

On the website, the manufacturer writes that an "innovative UltraSilent technology" is used. Thus, the device should not exceed 50 dB even at the highest level.

But is that really the case? 50 decibels doesn't sound like much to me at first glance. Since I have already tested a few devices, I know how loud they can turn out - especially the very first Guns were as loud as a vacuum cleaner. A really loud vacuum cleaner!

The OrthoGun 3.0 sounds somewhat different - I would describe the sound as muffled and therefore not as obtrusively loud.

Support and help

If you have questions and need help, you can find a lot of information in the app. You can also use the live chat on the website, send an email or contact the manufacturer OrthoMechanik by phone or WhatsApp. Support is provided in German, which is not the case with most other devices.

You get a total of two years warranty and the device will be replaced in case of defects. You do not have to pay shipping costs.

What is the difference between the OrthoGun 3.0 and the 2.0?

The differences are noticeable when you hold the device in your hands. The new model is lighter and easier to operate. While you could only switch off the 2.0 massage gun by clicking through all the levels, this is now clearly better solved. The OrthoGun 3.0 has a switch to move up and down through the programs.

How does the OrthoGun 3.0 massage gun work?

Depending on the intensity level, the muscle gun can work differently. In total, you can choose from 5 programs that you can adjust directly on the device.

  • Stage 1: 1,200 shocks per minute: to activate and relax the muscles.
  • 2Stage: 1,600 shocks per minute: to relax the fasciae
  • 3Stage: 2,200 shocks per minute: to break down lactic acid (lactate) in the muscles
  • 4th stage: 2,800 shocks per minute: optimal as trigger point massage
  • 5th stage: 3,200 shocks per minute: for releasing stubborn tensions

Overall, however, the following applies: For some, level 2 can already be the absolute maximum that the body can tolerate. That is why it is so important to listen to yourself when using the product. If in doubt, choose the lower level.

The alternative: OrthoGo OM-Go massage gun

Have you always wanted to take your massage gun with you when you go to the gym so you can immediately feel the therapeutic effect on your muscles? Then the OrthoGun 3.0, like most massage guns, is probably too big for you.

In such a case I can give you the OM-Go massage gun recommend. It is much smaller than any other gun on the market. I like to use it for tension during work. By the way, just because it seems small, it still has a very powerful output and is a great replacement for large massage guns.
