Mother's Day is just around the corner! We think it's time for a sincere thank you. So completely free of commercialism. Here are 11 great ideas to give your mom a big treat.

Every year on the second Sunday in May, Mother's Day is celebrated. The idea behind it comes from the USA. So mothers should be honored and considered on this day. A wonderful chance to say thank you.

Mother's Day has now been firmly established in the United States since 1914. In the early 1920s, the idea spread to us as well. Since then, we celebrate our moms and honor all the sacrifices they have made for us.

Of course, there are different ways to celebrate Mother's Day. Anne Maria Jarvis, the founder of Mother's Day, fought desperately since the 1930s to abolish the day in honor of mothers.

She could not stand the commercialization associated with it. Wanted to pay sincere love and admiration. We find this beautiful, true and authentic! That's why here you will find suggestions that come from the heart. :)

Cook something for mom

Maybe it's the same for you. Mom's food tastes best. On Mother's Day, we should turn the tables, banish mom from the kitchen and conjure up her favorite meal. It may not taste quite as great. But it is made with love. And that counts!

Go inline skating together

If you both have inline skates, why not go for a spin together? Exercise in the fresh air is not only good for you. It also welds together and is a lot of fun. Do not forget knee pads :)

Writing a dear letter for Mother's Day

Not everyone is lucky enough to live near their mom. For those who can't see their mom on Mother's Day, we have an idea. Write a beautiful letter.

Not on squared paper. But on a nice piece of letter paper. Write to her what you appreciate about her and when you especially miss her. This will show her how much you appreciate her.

Recreate children pictures

Surely you have already noticed the current hype. Old children's photos are re-enacted with similar clothes, in the same constellation of people. The grimaces are identical. Only there are many years in between. This should not only make mom happy, but also make many hearts beat faster.

Kidnap mom for a picnic together

Grab her and take her out into nature. Enjoy the beautiful weather and let the sun shine on your face. Spending time together, relaxing and feasting on snacks is almost a short vacation.

Invite to the DVD evening

Instead of dropping off the dirty laundry at mom's on Sunday, invite her over to your place. Snack on snacks, chat a bit and watch nice movies together. One of our favorites: Monsieur Claude and his Daughters. :) It's typically French, funny and wonderfully heartwarming.

A joint bike tour

Especially now in spring, cycling is just great. Ride together to beautiful places from your childhood. Revel in memories. Just enjoy yourselves together. Of course, this can also be combined with a picnic.

Get old videos burned to DVD

Do you also still have old children's videos of you on cassette? Almost no one has a tape recorder at home anymore. Instead, they have a lot of home-made films that no one can watch. You can send in your old cassettes and have them burned onto DVD. Bet your mom won't look bad when you suddenly crawl across the screen as a 3-year-old? :)

Take a trip together with mom

She's been wanting to go to that one flea market for ages? Or take you to her favorite restaurant? Why don't you kidnap her there? Show her how much you enjoy spending time with her. And that her wishes count just as much as those of her children.

Give your favorite flowers for Mother's Day

We are more into self-picked bouquets. Preferably from wildflowers. But not everyone has the opportunity to do so. In an emergency, of course, a bouquet from a flower store goes. Exceptionally... :)

Our conclusion:

Unfortunately, it is so often lost in everyday life. But it is time. Time to say thank you and show sincere affection. You don't have to buy silly mugs and pillows to do it. Give something from the heart. Give your time, shared memories and good times. To our moms!
