Summer is approaching - time for smooth skin. A Swedish company is currently shaking up the razor blade market. But what's behind it and how does it work? This is my Estrid razor experience!
Have you ever heard of Estrid? If you're on Instagram, you almost can't avoid the stylish brand.
My first encounter with the company was a good two years ago now, and what can I say? The razor blade subscription has really worked for me. But let's take a look at it step by step.
Somehow it never occurred to me to share my experiences in a post - until now. 🤷♀️ Sometimes it takes time and conversations with friends before you think: I could write something about this!
So, here I am, ready to tell you all about mine Estrid experience* to unpack. After two years test period I have collected more than enough information for the field report.
So much so that I've dropped my light green razor several times in the shower. But it still works as well as it did on the first day and only has a few minor blemishes.

Who or what is Estrid?
Estrid is a Swedish company that offers razor subscriptions for men and women.
The company was founded in 2019 by Amanda Westerbom, Ben Eliass and Alan Aygun. It was initially marketed as "Scandinavia's first female razor brand".
The founders are committed to sustainability. The razors are made from recycled material and the razor blades are plastic-free packaged. The company supports a whole range of Charity projects.
On the Website describes Estrid* as a "completely vegan alternative to conventional products on the market."
Two years ago, I was on the lookout for a Alternative to buy razor blades in the drugstore. It's really very expensive.
My friend has been using a Razor blade subscription and saves a lot of money. So I went looking to see if there was something suitable for me.
My skin is very sensitive and white (okay, almost transparent 😅) - so you can see razor bumps immediately and from a kilometer away.
So it was clear to me: I need gentle Razor blades with Gel cushion. Spending 5 euros per blade at DM, Müller or the like if I then have to go and buy them myself was too much for me in the long run.
My skin also doesn't tolerate most gel pads very well. They give me razor bumps and redness.
For a while, I therefore used my Homemade shaving gel - That has already helped me a lot. But it still wasn't the solution to my problem.
During my research, I quickly stumbled across Estrid.
Hair is not taboo
Already at the first look at the Website* It's striking: something is different here. You see women with Armpit hair and Leg hair in all sizes and weight classes. Body hair applies to Estrid not as an absolute No-Go - Quite the opposite: it is celebrated and deliberately displayed.
According to Estrid's website, the idea is that everyone should be free to decide whether to shave their entire body, only shorten their hair or only remove hair from parts of their body.
Here you can see real people who are not clean-shaven. You can see curves, wrinkles, moles, tattoos, stubble, body hair and smooth skin. A really beautiful and aesthetic account that shows people as they are: hairy and not perfect. 🙂
That's when my curiosity was aroused. I really wanted my own Estrid shaver experience do. And I've been able to do that for over two years now. Time to introduce you to the Swedish company.
What you need to know about the shaver and the subscription
Let's take a quick look at the ordering process and the subscription model before we get to the actual shaving experience.
The Estrid razor and its look
With the chic Scandi design Estrid meets the spirit of the times. The razor is very minimalist and clean, has no embellishments or special features. But it does have a ergonomic handle made of matt steel.
The shaving head can be attached to this, which has a total of 4 blades and Gel cushion has.
For this test, I ordered another shaver in addition to my light green one - I wanted to see if anything had changed visually in the two years. I had nothing to complain about with the old model, but who knows, maybe there have been some innovations anyway.
So before I can start unboxing, I first have to register online for a Decide on the color. Because I like it colorful, I can choose from these Pastel colors choose:

- Orange
Brand new in the range is Onyx - so a mixture of dark gray and black. I don't like the look of that.
After finally deciding on light blue, it takes three days for the razor to arrive. I open the test package and find a total of 3 razors inside. 1x light blue, 1x pink, 1x onyx and I still have the old, light green razor. Well, the summer can really come 😂
I particularly like the Aesthetics the Estrid razor. The box alone is very lovingly designed - the entire presentation on delivery - from the razor to the box - looks as if it has been cast from a single mold. Super chic!
For a further 7 euros you can order a travel case to make it easier to transport the razor when traveling.
The subscription
The special thing about Estrid is that you can use the Razor blades have it delivered as a subscription* can. All 30, 60 or 90 days four blades are supplied. You can adjust the interval online at any time or cancel the subscription. There is no minimum term.
I get all 3 months four razor blades delivered directly to my mailbox. That's quite enough for me, because with the permanent hair removal in the studio I have had a lot of body hair removed.
As a result, I collect more razor blades in winter, which I then use up in summer because I reach for the razor much more often. 😅
Can I cancel my subscription?
I'm generally not a fan of subscriptions. That's probably because of those subscriptions you know from the gym - you pay a lot and don't use it. But it's different with Estrid.
After logging in, you can browse the subscription offers on the website. You can set here, how often you want to get the blades sent to you, you can subscribe to the pause or completely cancel.

So now I'll tell you how the shaver performs in the practical test.
The shaving experience
The razor itself is made of Steel manufactured. It is therefore considerably heavier than the razors you see in the drugstore or supermarket. As soon as you pick it up for the first time, you realize: It lies wonderfully in the Hand.
But how does it perform when shaving?
I use no shaving foam on the legs. In my opinion, the gel pad is big enough. Before shaving, I wet my legs and the razor in the shower. And it actually glides smoothly over my legs every time - without pinching or tweaking.
I go over each area twice, although this is not necessary for the sharp blades. Even after the first time, there is hardly any stubble left.
No cuts, no injuries, No razor bumps. Otherwise I would probably no longer be a customer.
The Armpits I always shave dry, because otherwise the razor head becomes too slippery and hairs remain.
The Shaving head is mobile, which helps me a lot, especially with my bony knees. 😄
The Interchangeable heads have five blades*. For skin care, they contain Aloe vera, vitamin E and Shea butter*. This means that the skin does not dry out as much when shaving, but is actually moisturized.
There are a few negative Estrid razor experienceswhich I personally cannot understand. For example, they complain that the gel layer is too thick and therefore they can't shave well.
I can't confirm this - it works perfectly for me. About after three to four applications the Gel cushion smaller. At the latest then it is no longer so slippery on the skin.
The wall bracket
My razor always sticks to the large Bathroom mirror. But the Scope of delivery one wall bracket* included. You can apply them to all smooth surfaces glue - even on tiles.
When I take a long shower and there is a lot of steam in the bathroom, the holder sometimes comes loose. But that's no wonder, the bathroom is only 5.2 m² in size - so a lot of steam is generated here quickly. That's why my light green shaver already has two clearly visible blemishes.
All in all, however, the holder delivers what it promises.
And how does the subscription work in practice?
In the meantime moved. To do this, I simply added the Address changed. The blades arrived at the new address with the next delivery. Problems with the Delivery I have never had none.

What would I improve?
In fact, nothing. I have been a happy customer for two years and will continue to be. For just 12 euros, I automatically receive 4 blades, which last me 4 months.
So 3 euros per blade including delivery. For comparable blades with large gel pads, I would pay 4.25 to 5 euros per blade in the drugstore and would then have to buy them every time.
What I like in addition to the shaving performance
Classic razors are largely made of plastic and therefore generate a lot of waste. Except for the blades, the Estrid steel razor*.
Many razors also contain animal products or are tested on animals. Estrid promises that they cruelty free and vegan are.
The packaging consists of recycled paper and is compostable.
When buying Estrid products 1 % to the women's rights organization Terre des Femmes. In other regions, Estrid works with organizations that support women in War and conflict zones support.
I think it's nice that we women from Estrid strengthened be able to give us a little more accept, as we are. And that's hairy sometimes. But I'm still not going to let my hair sprout because of it. 😄
Estrid conveys an image that I really like. You finally get a sense that other women are hairy too and that it's completely natural. The models are completely natural women, just like you and me.

When I started with Estrid, there were really only razors and razor blades. Now you can also find that in the store:

My conclusion
I hope my Estrid shaver experience has helped you get a good insight into the brand and its special features. I like the brand, its message and the fact that the sharp razor blades are delivered directly to my home. I've been using the blade subscription for two years and am completely happy with it.
You don't have to take out a subscription right away, you can test the shaver first. If you do take out a subscription, you can pause or cancel it at any time.
Yes, you can of course also get razor blades much cheaper here. So there are at Amazon about a set of 4* for less than 6 euros and the set of 10 for less than 14 euros. The blades even fit the Estrid razor.
I particularly like the message that the brand conveys and that the adverts don't feature clean-shaven women rolling around in the sand on a beach somewhere. 😄
