Pretty sure you've heard of it, "matcha" is on everyone's lips. But you can get much more out of the green powder than just tea. I have a few great matcha recipes for you.

Whether as breakfast, as a snack or as a remedy for sudden cravings. Matcha can really be used for many things. A plus is also the great color, especially together with colorful fruits is such a recipe with matcha a real eye-catcher.

At some point, however, even the biggest matcha fan has enough of tea. That's why I have come up with 3 ingenious matcha recipes.

What is matcha again?

Matcha tea consists of finely ground green tea leaves. What is special about it? The tea bushes are shaded before harvesting in order to achieve a higher quality.

This creates a lovely sweet green tea that is really healthy and can even help you lose weight. It can rev up your metabolism and help your body burn fat.

Because Matcha is not an infusion, the great ingredients are more intense than normal green tea. In addition, Matcha contains caffeine. However, it is milder and lasts longer than coffee. In short, it is more tolerable for our body.

The green miracle powder from Japan

In the past, by the way, Matcha was reserved only for the Japanese elite, who performed their traditional tea ceremonies with the high-quality powder. Translated, the name means "ground tea".

Why Matcha Recipes?

If you decide for one of the many Matcha recipes, you combine the benefits of green tea with the great effects of superfood and Co.

You need a breakfast that wakes you up and keeps you full for a long time? No problem, just mix matcha powder into your chia pudding. You want to treat yourself to something sweet without eating too much sugar? Then green pancakes are the right thing.

Especially as a dietary supplement for vegans, vegetarians or simply nutrition-conscious people, matcha is ideal. The green powder contains many vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

But drink every day only as tea? That also gets boring. I have therefore experimented a little. Three really really tasty matcha recipes have come out. Convince yourselves :)

My top 3 matcha recipes

  1. Matcha pancakes for a good start in the morning

Matcha recipesThe preparation of matcha pancakes is actually very simple. You can simply take your favorite pancakes recipe (or this one) and add 1-2 teaspoons of matcha. However, applies here, "less is more". Because the matcha is very intense, you should approach slowly.

    Ingredients for 2x matcha pancakes

    • 1/2 cup flour
    • 1/3 cup milk
    • 2 tablespoons Birch sugar*
    • 1 egg
    • Matcha to taste

    Preparation

Enough stirring is important so that the dough does not lump

First mix the dry ingredients and then add the egg. Once well mixed, gradually add the milk and stir vigorously to avoid lumps.

Once you have a green, smooth batter, you can let it sit for 15 minutes. Then fry in a pan with butter over medium-high heat until they are as "golden brown" as green pancakes can be :D .

Green pancakes are not only popular with children

I spiced up my pancakes a bit with bananas, vanilla ice cream and a little maple syrup. The ice cream is not really the healthiest choice, but it tastes great.

  2. Chia pudding with matcha as a healthy snack

Chia* Seeds are little all-rounders. They contain more omega-3 fatty acids than salmon, lots of antioxidants, iron, calcium and magnesium. So it makes perfect sense to combine these seeds with a second "superfood", matcha. The result is a great breakfast where cravings don't stand a chance.

Ingredients for 2x chia pudding with matcha

    • 4 TBSP. Chia seeds*
    • 250 ml coconut, almond, soy, rice milk (depending on preference)
    • 1 tablespoon matcha (approach slowly, so it's not too much)
    Matcha recipes
Chia pudding is a great breakfast for busy work days

You can add other spices, for example I made an extra layer with cocoa for the sweet tooth in me :) . Here you can really try a lot, use seasonal fruits as topping etc..

    Preparation

The preparation is really simple and does not take long. Just mix all the ingredients together the night before, stir well so that there are no lumps and put in the fridge.

The next day the Chia*-Pudding with matcha is ready to eat and can be spiced up with fresh fruit.

  3. Juicy brownies with matcha glaze

I think brownies have sometimes simply earned, even if they are rather chocolate and sugar-heavy :D For all those who are currently rather practicing in the renunciation of too many calories, we have here the appropriate alternative: Cauliflower Brownies.

Ingredients for moist brownies with matcha glaze

    • 225 g butter
    • 100 g cooking chocolate (preferably dark)
    • 80 g Birch sugar*
    • 4 eggs
    • 1/2 - 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 50 g flour
    • 50 g Cocoa powder*
    • Salt
    • Cinnamon*
    • Cashews*/walnuts/almonds (whichever you prefer)

    Ingredients for the matcha glaze:

TIP: For a gluten-free version, simply replace the little flour with Cornstarch*, which works really well with these brownies.

    Preparation:

First, you should preheat your oven to 180°.

Then melt the butter and chocolate over low heat. Once melted (do not forget to stir), remove the saucepan from the hot plate.

After that comes the Birch sugar* with the eggs and vanilla extract in a bowl. Mix the ingredients well with a mixer until you have a frothy mixture. Then add the melted chocolate and butter (must not be too hot). Once this has been done and mixed well, add the flour, cocoa, a little salt and Cinnamon* to this. Stir well again. Finally, add the chopped nuts. I usually chop the nuts quite coarsely. Pour the whole thing into a brownie tray and then it's off to the oven.

Depending on the size of your tray, the time in the oven may vary. Basically, the brownies should be ready after 25 minutes.

As soon as the brownies have cooled, you can start icing them. You should approach this slowly in terms of quantity. Simply put 2-3 tablespoons of powdered sugar in a bowl, add lemon juice and stir. Keep adding sugar and lemon until the mixture is thick enough for your brownies. You can then add a little matcha powder until the color is nice and green and you like the taste.

Then, of course, the glaze must be spread on the brownie, dry and ready are the brownies with matcha glaze :)

My conclusion:

The green ground tea can do so much more than just wake you up, help you lose weight, and provide your body with important minerals and vitamins. Matcha recipes are super delicious and eye-catching because of their color.
