Many amateur athletes consider barbell exercises to be less demanding. Unlike with dumbbells, you actually don't have to do as much coordination.

You grab the barbell with both hands and thus clearly have more stability in the torso.

The individual muscles cannot be targeted completely because the large muscle groups are always involved. The logical consequence: The balance requires less effort. So you can lift more weight and perform more repetitions.

This is also the reason why a cleanly executed barbell workout seems more effective for the less skilled. The large muscle groups grow faster and usually the result can be seen faster.

But be careful: As with dumbbell training, too much weight and misjudgement can lead to injury. Too much weight puts a lot of pressure on your back muscles, which can lead to pain and injury.

Which is more effective: dumbbell training or barbell training?

There is no clear answer to this question. Because whether you should rather use dumbbells or barbells depends on your personal goals. And of course, how trained you already are.

If you use dumbbells correctly, you can increase your performance and achieve muscle growth. This applies to both long and short dumbbells.
