If, like me, you have a real Reading mouse you've probably already thought about trying out the Audiobooks to try out. After all, it's really interesting to see which Emotions a reader (and not your own inner voice) can convey.🎧

If this is the case, you have probably already heard of Audible belongs to. The company is one of the Germany's market leader, when it comes to listening to books and more. That's why I really wanted to take a closer look at Audible.

If you want to know what my summary of the Audible Testwhether the streaming service is worth the money and whether the company is ahead in the field, you should definitely read on.😉

Audible ("audible" in German) has actually been around since 1995, making it an absolute pioneer! 9 years after it was founded, the streaming service also found its way to Germany. Audible has been part of the Amazon family since 2008. After a short time, the popularity of the Amazon subsidiary.😁👍🏼

As a real Primary rock Audible has made a name for itself as an audiobook streamer and has become an integral part of the streaming world.

In addition to audiobooks, Audible also offers Other services that you can listen to - but more on that in a moment. Users can choose from various Subscription models that differ in price and performance.

The Audible app is available for iOS and Android and offers various functions that make listening to audio books easier and more enjoyable. Audible initially offers you 5 different subscription models to: Audible trial subscription, Audible trial subscription for Amazon Prime members, special subscription, subscription for students and Audible subscription. Of course, the 2 trial subscriptions not at Duration (which is a shame, because who wouldn't want to enjoy a lifetime of free audiobooks).😄

The classic trial subscription and the one for Prime members only differ in how long you can test Audible. With the "normal" trial subscription you can 30 days test and listen to something for 1 credit (i.e. 1 book)

Prime members have a small but very nice advantage when testing: As an Amazon Prime member, you can test twice as long - so 60 days. So that's 2 credits you can redeem with it😍🎧

You know what's the best (and almost unique among streaming providers)? You can get a Title not only select and listen to it, but also to keep forever. So even if you cancel your subscription, the books will stay with you.

After completing the "probationary period", you move up to the usual subscription and pay a monthly or annual Fixed price.

At Special subscription you pay half the price of the normal subscription for the first 3 months. A similar concept also applies to the Student subscription: Here you only pay half price for 6 months.👍🏼

The important thing here is that it other providers that have a Student rate at years as long as you can prove that you are actively studying. You can find a few of them here: "9 alternatives to Audible that you need to know!"

Unfortunately Audible still offers no perfect Flat rate model to use the audiobooks, but only one credit for 1 book per month. Since 2022, however, the company has been slowly making the switch and you can at least listen to some content without a credit.😊

You can cancel your Audible subscription cancel at any time or pause. However, if you cancel, you can reactivate your account at any time. What's more, unused monthly credit only expires after 3 years.

Functions and extras

In addition to a gigantic library of audio books, radio plays and podcasts, the Audible some practical Functions and Extras, that make the listening experience more enjoyable.

One function that other providers do not have is the ability to download audiobooks via the Web browser and PC. And as if that wasn't enough, you can use the Books also download and easily download them to your MP3 player, listen to them on your computer or offline. You can listen to the audio books as often as you like download.😁👍🏼

I personally have very often Problems in the process, to fall asleep. I always have something buzzing around in my head and keeping me busy. That's why I always like to listen to audio books when I go to sleep - that way I only have to concentrate on them.

Audible offers people just like me a Sleep function. This means that you simply set when the audiobook Stop automatically should. So if you know that you need about 1 hour to fall asleep, you can set the audiobook to stop playing after 1 hour.😴💤

My Audible experience

Now you know everything Audible has to offer and how. Perhaps you are already interested in trying out the service provider. Because now comes the part that should really convince you (or not): My test report.📗🎧

I have the audiobook service looked at very closely and wanted to find out what Audible really or whether the hype is unjustified. I'm actually a classic reading mouse - a physical book in my hand, a cup of tea and a cuddly blanket.

As an editor for We Go Wild, you can probably imagine how much I work on a Working day I often feel less like reading in the evening, again to read something yourself. That is why Audiobooks the perfect Middle way, to get on with my books without actually having to read.

If you're interested in an audiobook streaming service, you can't help but have heard of Audible. The question often arises as to whether you are interested in Audible or its competitor BookBeat decides. Today I definitely tried out the Amazon subsidiary 😉.

My favorite genre at the moment is Romantic fantasy... or fantasy with a bit of romance. So I searched for my current book "Curse of the Seven Souls" on Audible and actually found what I was looking for (ahhh).

But I will now not from my Rating about the Storyline (although I would do that too), but about how Audible as audiobook service performs and whether he will let me convince was able to renew my subscription.😉

I have tested Audible and am sharing my experience with you today!

The following things were important to me at Audible:

  • How quickly can I create an account?
  • How intuitive and simple is the app's design and structure?
  • How quickly can I find books that suit me? Do the recommendations fit really to me?
  • How is the quality of the audiobooks?
  • How (well) do the functions and extras work?
  • Is Audible worth the price?

How to create an account

You can either open your account in the App or in the Browser create. I'm already a Prime member. After I found the app in the App Store, I downloaded it straight away.

I was then also asked which account I wanted to register with - so it went (more or less) by itself. I can only recommend that you register a Prime account to add: This way you can Test for 60 days free of charge and even get 2 credits (i.e. 2 books).

Unfortunately, however, via the app no way I haven't found how to start a trial subscription (but that could be me). I therefore recommend that you click on the link "Get your Audible trial subscription now!" to log in in the browser. You will then be taken directly to the app (which you can download in advance) and will see that you have a trial subscription with 1 or 2 free credits.🧡😊

So far, so good: Now let's take a closer look at the app!

You can log in in the app or in the browser!

The Audible app in the test

As already mentioned, I got the app from the App Store. Audible is available for both iOS as well as for Android available. In my first screenshot (left to right) you can see the home screen. To be honest, I was a bit confused as to why it says "Start now" when I'm already in the middle of starting up.

But well - I'm getting lost in the details. At the bottom of the bar you can see the most important navigation points of the app: Your library, Discover and Profile. Unfortunately, I don't know why the bar is in English. I couldn't find anything in the settings. And in general, I have to say that Audible likes to use the app English and German mixes, which can be very confusing.

Under "Account" you will find the most important Information on via your profile. As you can see, I've been a member since 2024 and you can also see how many credits I have and when the next one is coming.

Don't forget: 1 credit equals 1 book!

After that, I thought I'd take a look through the Offers from Audible browse wants. That's why I clicked on "Discover". You immediately see a preselection from Audible, like the current highlights. At the top it says "All categories" and that's exactly where I wanted to go!

This is what the most important start pages in the app look like!

Of the above-mentioned thousand categories that I was able to find in the browser via the laptop, I had App only one small selection. Unfortunately, they were a bit too big for me to really find books that interested me.

That's why I jumped headfirst into the deep end and simply looked (middle picture) for my current Book wanted. I was suggested the second book in the series in English. I personally think it's really good! The App is namely intelligent enough to find original works for the German title.

The part mentioned here is the second in the series - but I knew the original title not. But that wasn't a problem: on the third screenshot you can see that I had the right book after all.😊

How did that work? Under the title (large in white) it says "Title 1". If you click on it, you will see all titlesthat lead to a Book series belong. So I was able to get to title 1 via title 2 and listen to my book in English.

You can easily search for English and German titles!

After you have clicked on "+ Buy for 1 credit", the book will be added to "Library". You have to wait a little until the Book complete Downloaded has been. But then you can finally listen.😊

Since just listening to it is not enough, I wanted to see which Functions are offered. You can choose between the chapters ("Chapter"), adjust the speed of the narrative ("Speed"), select the car mode (I honestly haven't tried this) or set a timer (you can see this on the far right).

At the top right you can see three points. There are more functions and information about the book. As I said earlier: Unfortunately, I have no idea why it's in English for me.😂

You have a choice of many functions when you listen to your audiobook!

What was bothering me? In fact, there was a a few little things, that annoyed me (and maybe you too). Starting with the fact that the app is not purely in German. or English, but a salad mix of both. Personally, I don't have a problem with switching, but people who don't speak English well may have problems.

What's more, as I mentioned, I think it's a shame that you can't find the gigantic selection of genres and subcategories here. About the Browser it is possible and so it is then also much easier, to find the ideal book.🙈

I also had at the beginning Technical problems I was annoyed that the book was playing. But after restarting the app, it worked and I was able to listen to the audiobook in a relaxed manner.

How to find the book recommendations

There are initially no test or "ask" what you like to read. Personally, I think that's a shame, because it takes away the chance of books being recommended to you for your taste right from the start.😕

So you first have to do a few Find books yourself, that you like, so that the book recommendations really (can) suit you. That worked out so-so. But I also have to admit that I'm very picky about my book choices. So it's more my fault than that of Audible!

But I still found some works that I'm really interested in 👀

The quality of the audiobooks

The Listening quality of the Audible titles are super! It doesn't matter whether you're interested in one of the audiobooks or the podcast. No expense has been spared here in terms of quality.

I also have Audible via a Music box tested and the sound quality was also flawless. Even if you want to listen to the track at a higher speed, the quality does not diminish. You can still hear everything clearly and nothing sounds blurry or incomprehensible.

So here's an A+* from me!

The functions and extras in the test

I already briefly told you earlier which Functions and Extras there are. Now I'll tell you how well they work!

First of all: Audible offers some Functions morethan some competitors. I find the title details and the function to mark a book as "finished reading" particularly interesting. And yes, the function that Audible's AI also shows you original titles if you search in German, for example.

Also this clickable area, in which you can see all Works of the series I think that's great! It also saves you time having to research which title a) comes next and b) whether there are any other titles in the series.

The other functions such as timer or reading speed do not really differ from audiobook providers. This is by no means a bad thing! It simply means that they all do the same high level have

My conclusion: Audible is that good really

Now to the conclusion, what my Audible Test has revealed. Is Audible worth the money? Will I keep my subscription? Is Audible the best platform on the market?

On the first question: Depending on what you expect from a streaming service for audiobooks Audible its Worth the money! After all, Amazon's subsidiary offers much more than just audiobooks. The provider is therefore ideal for anyone who also likes to listen to podcasts.😊

Whether Audible Front runner on the market? Hard to say. I think the app in particular can still be improved and expanded technically. You have to be honest and say that there is always room for improvement and the competition not sleeps.

And now for the most important question: Will I remain an Audible customer? At the moment I'm still enjoying my 2 free months. Will I extend my subscription? I don't know yet. For the price, I think the credit for just one book is perhaps a bit too much. But if Audible also changes and offers a flat rate model instead (based on listening hours instead of number of books) I will definitely reactivate or renew my subscription!

Some of the functions are simply so well thought out and are not (yet) available from other providers that I can't really see how I could use them. not miss would want (at least in the future).

Should you choose Audible you can start today with a Prime account to test the provider for 60 days and find out whether the audiobook service is right for you.

All the best and have fun!
