Soon it's that time again, the leaves turn colorful and the ghosts start haunting again, Halloween is coming! These are very good tips for your Halloween party!
Already more than 2000 years ago "Samhein" celebrated by the Celts. The summer was said goodbye with huge fires. Indeed, at that time people thought that the sun god was replaced by the Celtic god of the dead.
On the night of October 31, the souls of the dead were supposed to come back to earth as ghosts. Those spirits that did not find their way, according to legend, haunted the whole night and scared peaceful people.
Nowadays, Halloween is more about partying and having fun. Do you have anything planned this year? If not, how about a private Halloween party with your friends? It's hard to say no to spooky food, decorations and costumes.
Here are our best tips and tricks to make your party a success
Preparation brings it
So that you can be as relaxed as possible at your party, you should organize as much as possible in advance. The more you can clarify beforehand, the better.
Take dress code seriously
A Halloween party is a real blast when all guests, without exception, are dressed up according to the dress code. It does not have to be an expensive costume from the store, the DIY variant is already quite enough. When everyone is dressed up, everything is even more fun, I promise.
Send out the invitations (if you make any) early enough
You can put together the most beautiful party, but if no one comes, it's still stupid. So - send out invitations as early as possible so that enough people have time for you.
Decoration? Yes please
Nowhere is decorating more fun than for Halloween. You can start by dimming the lights in your location to make the basic atmosphere a bit darker. And any "blemishes" in the decorations will be overlooked. And what could you decorate with? Here are our cheap DIY ideas:
PumpkinsWhether fake or real, they always make a good impression and also provide great lighting.
Carving pumpkins is actually not that hard if you don't have too high of standards to begin with. I tried it and got away without any cuts. My pumpkin isn't the scariest but I think you can see the Cheshire cat it should have become. Doesn't it?
Okay I'm probably not the most talented carver on this earth but it's all about the fun. And you have that with the Pumpkin carvingpromised. Small tip on the side, if the pumpkin is already older and sinks together you can stabilize the mouth with toothpicks (see picture).
Many Candles set up, either take the risk with real candles and watch all evening or simply use electronic ones.
Glowing eyes make: Just collect old toilet paper or kitchen rolls and cut eyes out of the cardboard. Then all you have to do is put a glow-in-the-dark light in the roll and you have glowing eyes that can peek out from a dark corner.
Bats everywhere: Looks more cute than creepy, but I like it. Get yourself some black cardboard paper and grab the scissors. Use them to create your bats and let them "fly" around the room with the help of a string.
It also looks really great when you have Spider webs hang up. You can buy them everywhere right now, or just reach for gray or white wool.

Provide enough food and drink
There is nothing worse than hungry guests. Trust me. So if you don't want to be lost in the freezer forever looking for food, MAKE ENOUGH FOOD. Plus, food is also a great way to decorate! Here's where you can finally let loose if you've always wanted to cook brain cupcakes or zombie fingers.
You need some ideas for spooky food? No problem we have tried a few recipes for you :)
Creepy eyes
Instead of the boring fruit salad, you can just grab lychees and grapes or cherries from the jar and make spooky eyes out of them. Highly recommended as vegan ,vegetarian and people-on-diet friendly. Plus, it's not much effort and looks awesome.
Zombie fingers
Using shortbread, chocolate cream, red icing and almonds, you can make delicious zombie fingers that are guaranteed to teach your guests to be creeped out.
Pumpkin pie
Our pumpkin pie goes quickly, tastes super delicious and is nice and moist thanks to the great pumpkin. Click here for the recipe:
Organize games
Games at parties are for kids? Not at all. Whether with or without uninhibited alcohol consumption on the side, adults can also have fun at Halloween party games :)
A few examples for inspiration: "Find the murderer" - If you have enough people, motivation and preparation time, you could start a role-playing game á Sherlock Holmes. Each of your party guests is assigned a role and has the task to solve the murder. Sounds super complicated at first, but it's definitely worth the effort.
Too complicated? No problem, then you can also fall back on the well-tried drinking game. Just put on a horror movie and every time something specific happens (e.g. someone screams, is killed etc.) you have to drink. It's not very sophisticated, but it's fun (especially over time).
Choose the right music
How about the soundtrack of horror movies? Would certainly be the right background music for a Halloween party. Or, if that's too much for you, just create your own playlist, because nothing works without music.
My conclusion
Halloween is just great. You can give free rein to your imagination and scare everyone :)
I hope this post helped you with your Halloween party planning. How do you dress up for Halloween or do you have some great recipe ideas in store?
