By the way, you can also eat the patties as a main course. You don't necessarily have to put them in burger buns.

Instead of using normal burger buns, our homemade buns are used here. They are made from whole wheat flour and therefore much healthier than store-bought buns.

If you don't feel like it or have the time, you can just use a whole wheat bun. The taste of the bean fritters goes well with all buns.

Ingredients

For the patties

  • 1 EL chopped flaxseed
  • 3 EL Water
  • 1 Onion
  • 400 g black beans
  • 1 EL Tomato paste
  • 1 EL Curry powder
  • 1 TL Paprika powder
  • 1/2 TL Chili salt
  • 60 g fine rolled oats
  • 30 g chopped walnuts

For the topping

  • 4 Burger buns
  • 1 Tomato
  • 1 Pickle
  • ½ red onion
  • Salad
  • 4 EL Barbecue sauce

Anleitung

For the patties

  • Soak the flax seeds in lukewarm water and let them rest for about 5 minutes. They now soak up water and later ensure that the patties do not fall apart.
  • Chop the onion and fry it in olive oil.
  • Drain and wash the cooked black beans. Mash the beans with a potato masher. Alternatively, use a fork or food processor.
  • Add tomato paste, curry powder, paprika powder, chili salt, oatmeal and walnuts.
  • And finally the flax seed mixture. Knead the ingredients with your hands. Put them aside for about 5 minutes and let them sit.
  • Wet your hands and form fritters. Fry them hot on both sides.

For the topping

  • Cut the burger buns in half and fry them very briefly in the hot pan.
  • Wash the tomato and cut it into thin slices. Chop the cucumber.
  • Bring the onion into small thin slices.
  • Pluck the lettuce into pieces.
  • Spread the burger buns with barbecue sauce. Then comes the lettuce. Then the bean patties, followed by cucumber, tomato and onion.
  • Ready is the black bean burger!

What side dish to go with the black bean burger

Personally, the beans fill me up so much that I don't need a side dish at all. If you still feel the need, salads of all kinds are very tasty.

Or my absolute favorite: sweet potato fries. Mega delicious! But also normal fries fit wonderfully.

If you like it healthier, you can simply sauté some vegetables in olive oil and season with salt. Zucchini and peppers are particularly good for this.

How to refine your burger

Not quite convinced about the topping yet? Of course, you can let off steam as you please.

If you are still looking for inspiration, these ingredients are especially good

  • Red cabbage
  • Lamb's lettuce
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup
  • Paprika
  • Cucumber
  • Avocado
  • Peanut butter
  • Carrots - finely grated

And much more.

Also by changing the sauce, the taste changes a lot. If you like, you can make a very tasty sauce with vegan sour cream, garlic, herbs and salt.

Or you can simply go for the classic ketchup. Just try out what suits you best. I really like the smoky flavor of the barbecue sauce and think it goes perfectly with the beans.

Burger with black beans patties

Why you should make a black bean burger

Veggie burgers in fast food stores are usually very uncharitable. Very quickly, some vegetable is fried and thrown together.

The burgers are often soggy, the sauce boring and there is rarely much choice.

Sometimes there is even no meatless burger at all.

That's why I always make my own veggie burgers. Until now, no vegetarian burger has been able to convince me.

The patties look like they contain beef thanks to black beans. In addition, the beans are compatible with all spices. From chili, to herbs, mustard and soy sauce. This makes them particularly interesting.

What makes black beans healthy?

And why black beans of all things? You can, of course, use other beans. But black beans are healthy.

Beans are said to have an anticarcinogenic effect. Their fiber can help the body absorb cancer-causing substances. Black beans are particularly rich in antioxidants that fight free radicals.

Vegan burger recipe

Beans contain a lot of fiber and keep us full for a long time. With 5 grams of protein per 100 grams, they provide plenty of protein and at the same time a very low fat content.

Black beans end up more and more often in recipes because they have a positive effect on the large intestine and ensure healthy digestion. In addition, they are not so strongly flatulent. If they still cause you problems, soak the uncooked beans in water overnight. Pour it off and boil them in fresh water with a pinch of a knife. Baking soda* Soft.

Our conclusion

A black bean burger is quick to prepare and guaranteed to succeed. Once you've made vegan patties, you won't miss the meat version. This burger tastes mega delicious. I love him :)

Good luck and enjoy it!
